A friend of mine worked as a sewer surveyor in the 80s after dropping out of college, apparently you can tell the social demographic of an area by the amount of congealed fat in the sewers.
Edit: These days, there is the added menace of wet wipes, which contain plastic and don't degrade. Adding these to the congealed fat takes it to the next level - composite drain blockages. We humans really are going to die out because of stupid. -

I recall that London had a fatberg some years ago that was the size of a bus. Seems insignificant in comparison to this latest one.My municipal sanitary sewer utility has had an active FOG (Fats, Oils, Grease) program for a couple decades.
