    Don't worry lads, @eoin and I can help you out here.
    Herb : dropping the H is no biggy,  but missing letters from other words is more of an issue, I give you;
    • aluminium
    • missile
    • squirrel
    each of which you prefer to contract.

    On to other more challenging sounds, why do you take the 'r' sound out of oregano and put it in pasta?

    @CPFC1905, I'm not sure what part of the US you're referring to, but you're not describing the way most people I know talk.

    Bostonians do drop the 'r' out park (pahk) and yard (yahd) and put it into wash (warsh) - if that's what you mean.

    Warsh, as in war-sh?

    Worked with many NATO colleagues on OEF and loved the different ways we all pronounced the same word.

    Canadians and their 'hooooosss' and 'going ooooot'.
    Germans had not equivalent word for 'fluffy'  and likewise were not keen on the word, 'squirrel'.
    I used to hear 'missle' a fair bit from the US guys.
    Plus the Aussies starting all sentences with 'Yeah, look' or 'Yeah, no, look'.    Safa's saying 'is it' instead of OK - and more or less everything else.   And a Finnish friend asking why my colleague thought he has a 'sweet ass' when he was saying 'sweet as (a nut)' - being of London origin.

      I'm going with the American pronunciation of missile...

    ... Since we have most of them :smiley:

    I didn't either; didn't find the video I was looking for but the first part of this made me laugh, so grabbed it.
