    I'm not an IFNAG (NROTC) but I did spend 27+ years in the USN.  I recall growing up many decades ago; everything came to a halt in the household (grandfahter WWI, father WWII, both no judgement-Army) and then time to watch the game.  The first game changer I recall is Joe Bellino, so yes I am old.  But as noted by @thetrim this game transcends the schools and hopefully always will.  Probably more than you needed to know.

    We lived off MREs after Katrina.  FYI - years later, found a few in the pantry, tried one and it was more revolting than it should have been.  They do not age well.  The heater packs make for great practical jokes.

    I spent my 20 years as enlisted slime, but had the chance to watch the game from my company’s luxury box back in 2011 I think when they played at FedEx Field, and have been hooked since.

    Had one particular JO Academy Grad who treated enlisted folks as such. Was doing the shutdown as EWS, he was the EOOW. As soon as the shutdown check off was complete, he said “Set Condition 1 watches.” I requested to enter, and calmly informed him that only the CO could grant that permission. His reply was “Shut your mouth Chief.” I said “Aye Sir,” and went forward. Engineer saw me on the mess decks and asked what was up. Give him the rundown, he told me to get my butt back in the Engine Room. He then proceeded to maneuvering and dragged the JO (who had been relieved by the duty section JO) to the CO’s stateroom for some one way counseling.
