No, they just like debating morality.

Ya, that's the entire point of this thread. Debating about whether or not someone should/could return an item under the standards of a companies written "Satisfaction Guarantee" and the moral dilemma within. I haven't decided at all what I am going to do. People are just making assumptions based on some of my replies. More than anything this question was posed to gauge the larger collective's thought on the matter. Then again, asking some of the folks on here about morality is probably not the best idea. =)

I bought a house brand gasser from Sam's a few years back. 2 years in the console LED's failed. I called and they said sure bring it in. On the way there as luck would have it, I was rear ended and it banged the grill up pretty good. After the ensuing LEO interaction I proceeded to the store as it was 2 miles away. I told the guy it was ok if they didn't feel comfortable taking it back under the circumstances and would file with the guys ins. I showed him the accident report. He was very professional and took it back no problem. Between work and home, I spend 10 to 15 k a year with Costco, I have no qualms with a return if I feel it's necessary.

I work in both retail and wholesale sales. Sometimes I have to make adjustment calls based on future relationships. I might be absolutely correct on policy but never see that customer again. The monetary costs to win a new customer in order to replace the one I ran off quoting policy are not always worth being right.

Whats with starting a sentence with "Ya"? Have you gone full blown Canadian on us eh?  If so most Canadians would take the high road given the circumstances. =)

Habit. Kinda like when we say y'all or kinda. At least I'm not saying "like" every other word right?

My wife bought me a jacket from Costco a few weeks ago for our trip to Argentina.  I put it on in Argentina (I tried it on beforehand) but it was really stiff and uncomfortable.  Then someone posted about an Orvis jacket as Costco in the Kroger thread.  So now I have a new jacket and I'm returning the other one because it wasn't comfortable.

    So thanks, thread.

I've always been ok with vernacular. Mark Twain was a master at it.

just as a side note, the National Christmas Tree Association estimates real tree costs at an average of 73 dollars this year, for 99 dollars you can become a member =)=)=) pretty sure a bug infested canadian tree coming across the border can still be had for 20 bucks.  i cant move fresh cut fire wood into the next county or across state lines but these trees cross country and state lines by the truckload, how is that.  who conned us into this xmas tree idea anyways =)=)=)  take it back, get your money and run

Can you be pro environment AND have a “real” Christmas tree? Hmmmm.

so i had to google this xmas tree thing =)

what is evergreen becomes a sign of undying life, and it reminds Christians of the "tree of life" of Genesis 2:9, an image of Christ

so we cut it down and kill it ;)

If you think about it, the tree tradition is odd.  Cut down a healthy tree and let it die slowly in your living room.  Or, pay for a plastic tree and store it in the garage 11 months a year.  Either way, you spend a precious Saturday getting the tree out and putting it up.  Then in a month you spend another Saturday taking it all down.

How is this thread still alive and well at the top of the forum??? I think I'm going to have to write a book about this endeavor and it's impact upon a decaying society. I'm sure @DMW will buy it on amazon in 6 Months. Don't worry, I will only charge $300 per copy. I gotta buy a new fake tree after all...

Ok, just to clear the air. I am not going to actually try and return something that I bought 7 years ago regardless of a companies "Satisfaction Guarantee". THAT in my personal opinion would be wrong. What I did do a few years ago after the lights did go out was re-string it and we use it every year. It still works and looks great. I brought this topic up because we were taking all of our Christmas stuff out of the attic this past weekend and my wife mentioned maybe we need to go to Costco and get a new tree with LED's. It got me thinking about the subject and I remembered we bought this one at Costco. I also remembered a situation from earlier this year where I witnessed 2 separate jackwagon's in one visit return 2 very well worn out, used Kamado Joe's and I thought to myself, my god if they can return those nasty looking things what the heck else does Costco accept? So again to clear it up. I never intended to actually try and return this 7 year old used Christmas Tree. It was however enlightening to see all the replies. Thank you and Happy Holidays. FYI, here is a picture of the tree from Christmas last year.
