    Opening everything up went great!!

    We put in wainscoting along the inside of the stairs and will have the stairs done with wrought iron railing and scrollwork added in the next couple weeks.

    The light at the top of the stairs is getting replaced.

    Room for the fridge in the main kitchen. (More about the “dirty kitchen” or technically “Scullery” later

    Bluestar range is waiting patiently.

    We finally landed on cabinet pulls. Thought this was going to end our marriage!! Just kidding but still, it was hard.

    I need to get picture now that paint is up. Floors are starting as soon as we finish the stairs!! We will hopefully move in early May or even late April.

    Floors have to go do down, then cabinets and then they can measure for countertops. Countertops and finish work will be the biggest drag. But we can start moving stuff after floors are installed.

    That open brick oven, with new hood vent, looks just big enough for a motorized whole hog spit.  Do-able?  :triumph:

    Yeah, with the high BTU 60” range it should work wonderfully to clear the smoke and grease... and A/C unfortunately.

  • Remodel looks awesome.  We custom built our house 15 years ago (2 story), but dealing with aging parents and stairs has made us think about building a new single story, or buying one and doing a full remodel like what your doing.  Just not sure if I want to be the “general contractor” on a new build again!

    We are looking into this and the 2 story houses are a bit cheaper.. but like you said the ranch will make more sense in the long run

    stairs are coming together. Really wishing I hadn’t put the bead board in the wainscoting. Going to probably tear that out and just have it flat in those squares.

    @Thatgrimguy

    Glad that wasn’t you or your family in that wreck when I called you the other day. It scared me when I saw it.

    On a separate note, the house is looking good buddy👍

    @Thatgrimguy

    I don’t know if you seen it, but there is another horrendous wreck on 67 today about half way between us. A F-450 pulling a horse trailer hit one of the 150 HP state tractors that was bush hogging. The past couple of days on 67 has been a nightmare.

    I haven’t heard or seen anything about it yet. But it looked bad. Real bad I’m sad to say.

    Cleaned and sealed the bricks this weekend. Looking great!! Can’t wait to see the cabinets and 60” range installed next week!

    Entry way chandelier looking pretty fly.

    flooring is almost done! Just gotta grout.

    I’m digging this spice cabinet!!

    so.. like these things do. It’s costed WAY more than expected and taken twice as long. Hopefully moving in by the end of the month.. or next month. I’m going to need @sgh money to finish this project!! We decided to put off the out door cooking area and the bathrooms for another day to cut some costs.

    Are you planning to knock down walls to make it an outdoor kitchen? If not, you should! 🤪
