Hospice Butts

greetings friends,

brandis best friend is in and out of hospice. Ovarian cancer that COULD HAVE been treated much earlier, if a simple and free test had been done by the gyno. Ladies - ask your gyno to do all the cancer testing you can next time you’re in there...

anyway - the family bedside has, mysteriously, been devoid of food deliveries. Usually, there’s too
much!! So we did a few butts and are sending them over this afternoon after pulling..

This time, I upped the temp to get it done overnight to a steady 300*. And I am trying @YukonRon ‘s peach wood recommendation. I’ll report more on that later.

cook took less than 12 hours overnight from frozen butts to probably just past where I’d like em.

Looks great!! Good on you for bringing the BBQ! It's always an appreciated treat especially when in and out of hospitals. I know they will feel blessed to have good friends like you.

Very generous of you. Your friend-in-law is fortunate to count you among her friends.

Will you be freezing some of that pork for her to use later? Pulled pork is awesome in so many ways.

Classy move on your part. Helping others with meals during times like your friend is going through means a lot more to them than the effort you put into it.  Small gestures like this on our end are huge on the receiving end.

Throw some sauce on that, I typically mix whatever preserves are left into whatever sauce is using and mix it up real well.
It is awesome when served in that manner.

!Yikes! in and out of hospice. Seems like a very precarious situation. Not having to bother w. cooking has got to be a relief to the family. Good work.
