Dang, can't find a flight for less than $765.  I will make one of these, but it'll have to be after retirement so I can drive/ride.  Have fun, folks!
You’ve got to book way in advance for halfway decent flights to NOLA in my experience.
Yep. Two of us for less than 600

I normally would have booked sooner, but the Air Force finally chose a replacement for the T-38 advanced trainer and we had a deadline to get at least a preliminary design for the Depot Maintenance campus to be built here at Hill; we got it finished by the deadline last Friday, I didn't expect us to get it done.
So, thought I'd see if I could still make the camp, but can't quite swing that after just buying a new car!

Incidentally, the new trainer will be the Boeing/Saab T-X:

The other two competitors had until last Thursday to file a protest (which usually happens), and I hadn't heard by yesterday that that had occurred. If not, I'm gonna be busy my last year in Civil Service (or however long I stay, haven't decided yet).

You couldn't arrange a test flight to NOLA?  Maybe buzz Algiers Point...parachute in.  Now that would be making an entrance.

@Botch- you've got the wheels to make it in fairly short order, for sure.  Long weekend and no speeding tix and you are there  =)

    Quickly back into Saab ownership!

When you say Boeing / Saab, does that mean that the Saab was the best aircraft but they need a US partner to get the deal, or is it a true JV?

I sober if you book a Th-Tues if that would be cheaper.  I just booked a couple weeks ago for Mon-Fri, and it priced out less than $300.

I kinda chuckled about that too.   :)

All three competitors were joint ventures, and all three with a foreign partner, Lockheed with a South Korean company and Raytheon with the Italian company formerly known as Finnmeccanica (can't remember their new name right now). Saab will have to build a company within US borders, which they've promised to do (and I really don't see how all that can be done before I walk out the gate the last time (I'm really enjoying saying that!!)).

I am quietly wishing all of you making the trip the best of times. Drive safely and what ever you do, don't blow your horn (too noisy). At any rate, I am attending a wedding and will not make it this year either. Cheers to you all.

Off the top of my head

Lots of friends, family and locals.  Maybe a biker gang.  Last year we ran out of food.  We should have more people this year, so trying to balance not running out with not having excessive leftovers.

    Me
You might want to keep that on the down low. Would hate to see them have to cancel with your advanced bitter attendance pending.

Confirmation on the Thurs boat cruise.  Departure time is around 6PM.  Limited seats so let me know if you are interested.  The boat this year is a super fancy rich-person 40 foot sea ray.  (I think).

If we fill up, you can meet us at the restaurant,  you can drive there pretty easily.  The boat ride is just for fun and to pretend for a few hours that we are rich, elite, a-holes.  Well, maybe not the a-hole part.

The boat ride is just because we are elite a-holes.
FTFY, I mean we're going to BC, that kind of makes us elite.

Henrik and friend will be playing.  I asked my buddy Ben to DJ, he's very eclectic.  This is will be something you will tell your grandchildren about...or stay silent in shame...
