Anyone found a battery AFTER cook?

I went to clean out the Egg and found a battery. We cooked wings for a bunch of people Friday but it may have been a prior cook as I tend to stir coals, clean bottom and add coals on top. May need to do a better job checking. I used Rockwood. First time I have ever found anything but probably the worst thing to cook. Thoughts

Agreed, that's probably not good.  Hope everyone is okay.   :|

Probably a good idea to toss any remaining charcoal and give the Egg a good clean (maybe even a clean burn) before your next cook. It looks like the battery case ruptured in the heat and you really want to get rid of anything that came out before heating things up again with food inside.

That’s highly unusual. I’m surprised the magnets didn’t pull that one out. Glad nothing major happened.

Good thing is it's a dry cell so there is no liquid acid that would pose the greatest threat, albeit a small amout.. I would suspect that the chemicals have burned off. If you do a burn try to keep done open just to be sure and clean out all old fuel.. I mess with acids a lot and I never take any of those chemicals lightly.. Rather be safe than sorry..

If it came from the bag of charcoal it should have already been cooked.  It would have gone through the kiln.  I don't know the bagging process so I don't know the probability of falling in during bagging.

You're probably fine. Battery seems intact. And now it’s out of the charcoal.

Egg on. Any remnants will be incinerated. If it bothers you, then a clean burn should put your conscience nice to rest.

Thats what I was thinking, and had it fallen in the bag you would have seen a shiny battery and plucked it out.
