    My minimum comfort level is 2 bags.  I like to stock up on sales but space is definitely a limiting factor for me.

    Used to get bunged up about it and keep a huge stock until I settled in on Royal Oak at HD which is about a mile from the house.  Cheap, clean and always available.  I buy two bags at a time and replenish when I get down to the last few cooks' worth.

    I do not have a minimum level. I like to buy 10 bags when the KJ roadshow comes through. I have 1 bag of FOGO left also. I am planning on going to ACE and grab 10 bags of RW but I just haven't gotten around to it. It is always funny when I put 300lbs of KJ in my Prius.

    The best strategy is to leave the old lady at home. Less complaining and more room.

    Same here.  RW is still my favorite,  but I really like the KJ lump when they come to Costco.   30 pound bags for about $20 is hard to beat.   I have about 6 RW and 6 KJ now.

    WWIII or something else hits and you'll be fine with lump.  Good luck on the protein to cook.  Remember...

    I keep 1 bag of RO and 1 bag of local mesquite.  I alternate back and forth they usually run out at similar times and I buy another of each.

    Stocked up over the years when there were BOGO promo, and end of summer clearance. Haven't bought lump in probably two years, haven't counted them lately but estimate I still have at least 400lb.  Now that I'm using Traeger more often than BGE, and cook outside about once a week, the lump hoard may last at least 2-3 more years.

    Current collective charcoal reserves are slightly less then Kentucky surface coal reserves at about 750 pounds.

    I never felt uneasy about running down to a bag or two since I could always go buy some at a number of local stores, until January this year.  Now I try to hang on to a few hundred pounds for survival in the seemingly more probable dystopian future.

    I usually keep 60 - 80 pounds around.  If I get an Ace coupon or see a sale, I'll buy regardless of need.  But I never get nervous - at least a half dozen places within 5 miles that carry decent lump.

    RW= 18 bags
    OO= 2 bags
    Fogo= 6 bags
    RO = 1 bag
    BGE= 1 bag
    Central Market= 2 bags
    B&B= 2 bags
    Briqs= 7 bags (Kroger brand + Stubbs. Both are good briqs).

    I couldn't see a few bags, and wasn't in the mood to move sh*t around to get to them.

    That puts me at about 697lbs of lump (maybe another 60lbs or so in there somewhere) plus about 100lbs of briqs.

    No twitches for now, but if SWMBO leaves me, I may have an idea why.

    When my skid gets down to about belt height, I begin to doubt the existence of a higher power.

    Reserves of cash are pulled out from nearby Fort Knox, and I begin lump hunting.

    I have been doing a lot of cooks this year, charity and our usual 4-5x/week meals. I like to keep about 20-30 bags on hand of Rockwood.

    I have another 5-6 bags of other brands on stand by, (Non BGE/Royal Oak) and unless Rockwood should ever close their doors, they will never be used.

    I think my egg has forgotten how to burn anything other than Rockwood, as she has forgiven me from using that BGE/Royal Oak junk, during that first week I owned her.

    bag of royal oak at the house, bag of cowboy at camp, bag of cowboy in reserve in the trunk. back in the early 2000's i was like ron, ww competion blend and mapleleaf by the pallet, there was no lump to be found fall/winter/spring, its everywhere now.  back then though i was burning more than 400 pounds a year, i dont burn that much at all now with the mini on the deck. only lump i would go out of my way for would be mapleleaf, and i would not go too far out of my way

    I normally have 1-2 bags on hand.  Ace is about 2miles from the house. HD and Lowes are about 1 mile from the house and stock lump year round.  I let them warehouse what I need - the storage space at my house is reserved for other "treasures".

    Add in the lump sitting in your eggs and you break the 700 lb mark.  :)

    When I get to open the last bag I buy more. I try to stock up when it is one sale. Most I have ever had is 10 boxes. Ace is 1 mile from me and they stock Rockwood, Wicked Good, BGE, and Frontier. Going to ask my Ace connection about a Rockwood discount if I buy 10 bags or so. Wouldn't mind stocking up for the Zombie apocalypse.

    I like to have the bag I’m using and then at least 3 unopened bags.

    Well between HD, Lowes, Wally-World and Shop-Rite its always available. Throw in hardware stores and 2 places that sell kamado's that are also local. Can't see stocking up a huge amount but some of the stashes eggers here have are impressive.
