OT - "working lunch" outside of Mexico City

Options
Work took me to Mexico City this week, with the expected marathon lunches and dinners.  Yesterday, we went on a site visit, and they expanded the menu.  Everything was great, save one worm that wasn't my bag.

Javelin (wild boar) roasted on a spit over coals.  This was just awesome.

Bugs, from best to worst - crickets, maguay worms (the red ones - also found in bottles of mezcal), and other worms (which weren't my bag)

Escamoles (ant larvae)

More stuff.

Not pictured:
  • Barbacoa (central Mexican style lamb) - awesome!
  • Pancita (stomach stuffed with tomato, onions and intestine) - awesome!
  • Queso fresco (which forced me to eat yet another javelin taco)
  • A variety of smaller quesadillas and tostadas
Plenty of great EggFest ideas, if I can just catch enough ingredients.

Very nice. Were the worms pretty good (except for the one) or were they something you can say you had but don’t want again?

Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

I do hope you took notes!

If that's work related, then I may have to drum up some business down there.

Gotta hand it to ya John, you certainly are the analog of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.  At least on this forum. ;)

I'd do them all again, except the one.

I'm telling you, bugs at an EggFest is the next frontier

@20stone Enjoy Mexico City. Waking up in a bathtub of ice without your kidneys is a small price to pay for such fine delicacies.

I had a number of incidents with the funky ticker since then, and have taken additional measures.  I should be good to go.
