This may seem odd, but the street vendors that sell fish and chips, is not a horrible experience, at all. Most restaurants I have gone to, while good, was also somewhat bland.
My Beautiful Wife and I, started eating on the go, because there was so much to see and do, we did not want to be tied to a table for a couple hours, we wanted to be out and about.
If I were to recommend a spot, I think I would recommend the Bar 61 Restaurant very highly. We did that one evening and although burning a lot of time, it was very, very good. Parking sux, Tappas and main course entrees, very good food if I recall correctly.
What are you looking for? Food? Experience?
I have traveled there frequently, and know a few spots....

Gone, apparently. We like the Wong Kei in Chinatown for Chinese, but know what to expect before you go.

You can get any kind of food in London, take your pick.

That’s too bad.  I went there several years ago, in the rain.  They actually didn’t have beef chow mein on the menu, which seemed like they were missing out on a tourist opportunity.  However, they did have a small tribute to Zevon there.

As a beer lover, I always gravitate to gastropubs and London is full of them. As a chain, the Fuller's Ale & Pie House pubs have always been excellent, but a couple of my favorites are the Dove in Hammersmith and the Anglesea Arms in South Kensington. The Harwood Arms in Fulham actually has a Michelin star, so that would probably be the #1 choice if you want something special.
Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.

This place has been on my list for a bit.  Indian concept restaurants which have apparently been doing well. The food and cocktails sound great.

I never related London to Chinese food until Warren told me.

It's called an expense account for a reason.

If you want to eat at an iconic pub that's been open in one form or another since 1500-something, eat at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. My wife and I had a meal there on a short trip to London a few years back - great atmosphere and top notch pub food.
