Semi-OT: Shirley Fab Seasoning/Biscuit Test/Pig Boom/Burgers On The Chargrill
CTMike
Posts: 3,664
Sprayed everything down with Pam, lit some lump charcoal, and threw on a
couple of splits. Also fired up some lump in the chargrill to cook a
few burgers.
Several folks also asked for some photos of the pig boom so I included a couple of photos to explain.
The Tel-Trus on the chamber stayed within 10 degrees or so.
Photos are in no particular order.
Lighting the lump in the firebox:

This photo shows me starting to unbolt the Pig Boom from it's storage location:

Pig boom bolted in place and rigging the bottom rack. To complete the operation it is winched up and swung over to the SS table:

I like the idea of using biscuits in all of the zones to check for hotspots/temp variances - very wise.
Have fun! If you can't get it done with that rig, you can't blame the rig.

Nothing OT about that! Awesome!Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

I read about the biscuit test on BBQ-Brethren, good way to gauge hot/cold zones.Spaightlabs said:I like the idea of using biscuits in all of the zones to check for hotspots/temp variances - very wise.

The biscuit test works well, but my son figured out that he prefers to use the bacon test for assessing temp on an offset.
