Trailers aren't allowed on the Merritt, at least on the CT side. I will definitely let you know if I am in your neck of the woods.Mama Roneck said:Wow, that's impressive. On another note, Tyler sent me a text stating that the beast was finished and gets painted tomorrow.
I was thinking king about naming it BOB, for Big Ole B!tch, but the wife nixed that idea. So I'm currently thinking Mortimer.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

Its that last word the boss has a problem with, and considering she is indulging me in this purchase, I am not one to bite the hand that funds me.bgebrent said:

Just my luck: 3-6" of snow here at home starting Friday morning, and it's s'posed to snow in Nashville Saturday. It's like Mother Nature doesn't want me to pick up the behemoth. Doesn't matter, come hell or high water, I will be headed north with it no later than Saturday at 3 PM.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

@CTMike - given the rig you have to haul that cooker, the snow may make your trip much easier-greatly reduce traffic as long as the idiots stay home. Safe travels.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Finally got home to view the above video. Gotta admit the plans looked great but the video puts it over the top. What a set-up.
Just be careful with the transport based on your weather guess. No need for any drama. Safe travels and thoroughly enjoy as I'm sure you will.

@bgebrent Thanks. I may need some medical intervention if the budget on this swells anymore than it has, because my wonderful wife is like to kill me.bgebrent said:Holy Sh*t that's one hell of a cooker Mike!!! My wife and I made it to Nashville around 10 this morning. The smoker is flat out amazing, I couldn't be more pleased.
Paul roped me into a Facebook Live video that you can find on the SF Facebook page. I think I said "umm" more times in 5 minutes than in the last year.

Amazing. Safe travels! Hope you make it home before the next round of snow hits. You'll need to fire it up to keep the snow from sticking!Mamaroneck

Just got home about 45 minutes ago and got the beast stashed in the garage. Thank goodness I opted for the removable tongue. The chest freezer will get relocated to give some margin.

When Mortimer left the fine folks down in Tuscaloosa he weighed in at a trim 4,640 lbs. He has now swelled to over 5,000 lbs.
Had my inspection with the local health department to finish up the permitting process for public vending. Had to add a fridge to Ol' Mortimer for cold holding.
There is just enough room to mount this 48" fridge between the propane burners and the open door of the prep table. I am thankful I opted for the extra room on the trailer and for the dual 3,500 lb axles.
Having a local fab shop mount the fridge for me, but I made it clear the weld quality has to match what the Shirley boys do.
Their reply was that all of their welders are certified to Navsea standards, and will meet or exceed the current welds on the beast.
We will see.

Looks to me to be a bit small in the capacity department. Hope you don't regret getting more cook space.
