2017 Clash of the Eggheads Chili Bash

Had a few knuckleheads (@northGAcock, @JRWhitee, @Jeremiah, @bgebrent, and @theyolksonyou) and their awesome families over for a chili cook off yesterday. Congrats to Brother Yolk for taking home the grand prize and to Brother Whitee for winning runner up. We had an awesome time.  I didn't get any pics of the chili cooking as I was too busy stirring, but I'm sure some of the other knuckleheads got some good pics.

Robin wins for messiest cook again. There were pepper seeds and pork drippings all over my deck this morning. Lol

Mine was the best but we all agreed to award it to Jason.....to end his bitterness. Only kidding.... he won legitamally.

@20stone @Wolfpack it was basically Salado chili with some tweaks. Brisket point and all the same liquids. Mixed beans, nutmeg and all spice added. Little less cumin. No celery (I hate celery)

It was a great time.  Probably the most amazing moment was when brother Yolk was awarded the trophy.  Just to witness the bitterness leaving his body is something I'll never forget.  He's really quite likable!  Really!

I didn't get a pic of @Dyal_SC chili or Nichole's errr @bgebrent chili.

I can't imagine many people* would drive 4 hr 45 min to cook chili and the drive home the next day, but I'd do it again. A great time with great knuckleheads. Thanks, Craig and Elle for hosting. 

Edit:  many people other than eggheads.

Kudos to our host and hostess brother Dyal and his lovely wife.  They went all out to make sure a great time was had by all!  And Jason was messier than Robin FWIW.

for the record, Jim's shirt had more chili on it than mine.

It was interesting, we had tow brisket, two chuckie a venison/beef blend and a pork and they were all good. Hats off to Robin for showing up with raw pork to start with.

Those were chili seeds....to be clear. I no that is a pepper Craig.

The secreat ingredient is now out in the open. Tow. I am not familiar with this...where Jason doess one pick up tow brisckit?
