PIG Pen,
In the past we have posted that the Rutland Gasket should not be used on the Big Green Egg or any other cooker with food that close to the gasket. This did not come from us, it was a warning from Rutland Gasket Company. That should tell everyone something. Once again we are making a public notice that Rutland Gasket is not reccommended with our product, it is not safe.| | The administrator has disabled public write access.

hahaha, my mistake. I guess you must have done this before my time. Then again, I can usually come up with a reason to give ron grief.
I didn't clean my old gasket off as well as seems to be the standard either. But then, I didn't have directions. It's only stayed on for 7+ years now. It may fail any minute. Bought mine at the hardware store for 79¢/foot. I think it's more now.
I remember the guy with the permatex only gasket. A bead or two around the rim might be all you really need. No Rutland, just UltraCopper. Will probably try that if I ever need another.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

That permatex only gasket looks like a lot of work. And mess.

I just did that for the sake of convenience. And because I love plagiary.

That's correct - I never claimed it was my idea and for that matter the idea for using the Rutland came from long time egger Char-Woody or C~W for short.JustineCaseyFeldown said:i don't think RRP claimed it as his idea. fwiw. no need to give him any grief.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
I got OLD also.Dredger said:True story. A few years back, daughter brought a cheese ball to Christmas dinner. Now, I'm sure many of you that cook a massive dinner don't usually partake of much of it. Hubby tried her cheese ball and wanted the recipe, which she was more than happy to share. Fast forward to this year to my last eye surgery. I wanted to make a "gift" to the staff in the way of a couple of cheese balls and used her recipe. They tagged my file requesting the recipe on their follow up call. I was in a hurry and opened up the software I use to create my recipes. Guess what? Yep, it was one of mine that I had published in 2013. How soon you forget, but then, I'm old.

When I was 16, I asked @Jeepster47 what he did to make his steaks so good. His answer?
"I p!ss on them. Any more questions?"
So no. I do not have any secret recipies.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Yup. Not as close as before, but within a little over an hour. Close enough for me to get my meat into a freezer.theyolksonyou said:
