First Smoked Turkey

This was a late post from my Thanksgiving feast with the in-laws. My first time and I got pretty good reviews from the family. Although, I must say I was overly nervous at first because it dawned on me that I volunteered for something I have not experience on - turkey.
- Picked up a 20lb turkey and trimmed most of the fat
- Brine for 24hrs
- Pat dry, season, and placed on vertical roaster
- Smoked at 225 for 5hrs (pecan chips)
- Rest for an hour
For our 2 year anniversary gift, the wife got me a FlameBoss 200 Wifi temperature controller for the BGE. How did I go so long and not get this. No more tending to it constantly for smoked brisket. I can just set it and forget it. Notifications via mobile phone.
The skin isn't as cripsy as I'd like. Any suggestions or advice on the overall process is greatly appreciated.

To get crispier skin you just need to cook it hotter (325-350) for less time (3 hrs.) basting every so often to keep the skin moist.
Great looking bird!!

I think 325 is the sweet spot for poultry“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

Great looking grub brother Toe.
Brother Toe, I have got to ask, is there a meaning behind the username or is it simply a metaphor?Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

Mine turned out perfect this year. I had a 20lb Butterball and cooked it with Pecan Chunks at 350. Mine was in the Egg for exactly 15 minutes per pound. So five hours.

Thank you guys for the much needed feedback. I'll cook it hotter temp next time to get that crispy skin.

@Krustytoe it looks like your air temp probe is up in the dome. Just curious...what's holding it up there? Did you clip it to the BGE thermometer?
