I can't say who has the very best poboy in NO. But I can say that I haven't ever had a bad one NO. Even the gas stations there have killer poboys. NO is famous for their poboys.

Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

    Status- Standing by.

The best po boy I had was a place that I think was called crabby jacks. It was a very unassuming place aside from the line of people out the door and around the corner. I swear there was 2lbs of the best fried shrimp I've ever had on that sandwich! Worth the wait for sure!

Just keep in mind that some of your best po-boys can be from some of the seediest neighborhoods as well as hole-in-wall places.

Parkway Bakery & Tavern is expensive and overrated. You can get better tasting po-boys for for less money.

I like Bevi Seafood in mid city or Crabby Jack's in the Old Jefferson area. If you're downtown Bevi is definitely closer. But as @SGH said, there are a lot of places where you can find a good poboy in Nola. @nolaegghead and @nolabrew should be great resources if they see this thread.

Put anything (dressed) in Leidenheimer's French bread and it's pretty delicious.

That is probably one of my favourite places to eAt in the world. Wife and I honeymooned there the year before Katrina. I never had the poboy, but everything we ate there was amazing

    Unfortunatly not.

Who makes the best roast beef po-boy? Mahoney's makes a good one as does Parasols.  I prefer Parasols for roast beef, but MAhoney's has some interesting options, like fried chicken liver.

Best seafood, Domilises, Westbank Conoco station on Burmaster and Franklin (cheap too, dont let the look of the place fool ya)

Hamburger Po-boy, I dont eat it but my wife swears by Rocky and Carlo's down in the parish.

This is a sensitve topic down here and if you ask 10 New Orleanians this question you 10 diffrent lists, but with a few standards in common.

    Some interesting opinions here.

It really depends what kind of poboy you are looking for.  I have different favorites at different places.

    Some that have been mentioned:

Parkway is my all time favorite (I love their bar), but I don't really care for their roast beef (I like their hot sausage patty).

Domilese's - I grew up with them and I like them, but their seafood is non-standard.  They put a weird ketchup/hot sauce combo on it.  I like it, but it's not for every one.

Crabby Jack's - really good.  Get the duck.

Mother's - meh.  It's good but not worth the lines.  Their fried chicken is really good.  For a poboy, go to Johnnie's in the Quarter.

Mahoney's - good, and they do some interesting things.  But for those remarking on price, it's probably the most expensive of all of them.  I think my last oyster poboy there was $22.

    A couple of others:

Avery's on Tulane - good roast beef, good oysters.  They have a roast beef with horseradish and fried pickles that is killer.

R&O's - New Orleans Italian.  Their Italian special is meatball and italian sausage.

Sammy's on Veterans (Metairie, used to be on Live Oak) - probably my favorite roast beef in the city.

Killer poboys - originally (and still) in the back of the Erin Rose bar, and now with their own location in the quarter.  www.killerpoboys.com - they do some elevated stuff.

As mentioned, there are a ton of other places that will crank out a good poboy (as @nolaegghead mentioned, it's all about the bread).  You can find them everywhere.
