My Newest Addition - Cajun Fryer

RajunCajun said:These make frying soooo easy. Removes the temp swings from trying to maintain temp while frying. I have the 2.5gal Bayou Classic, it's a bit flimsy and if I had to do it again I would spent a few more $$ and gotten one more rigid, but don't let its flimsiness fool ya.....it easily gets the job done for the money.
Take a tube of Pilsbury biscuits, cut each one into four, drop them into 350deg grease, they will sink to the bottom and almost immediately pop up, when they pop up, tap them with tongs and they will roll over, remove from the grease after 20sec or so, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve. Do this for your friends and you will be one popular girl or guy.
When I had lunch with the owners of The Cajun Fryer, Mrs. told me to roll out the biscuit dough, cut into pieces and pinch it around a strawberry with the stem removed. Fry, remove and dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate.
Sounded great, and I bet would work with berries of your choice.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
My fryer has started to rust. It is on the patio but covered from rain. The flue outlet and the cart base are rusting. I called and they are sending me some paint. Not the most elegant solution. Can't return it to Bass Pro as it's just beyond 60 days, so I have to deal with the company. I hope this doesn't continue. The products are meant to be stored outdoors, after all.Two Large Eggs, 6 gal Cajun Fryer, and a MiniMax in Charlotte, NC - My New Table

I was about to start a new thread about my replacement, but it seems best to update this one.
I went to paint the rusted areas with the paint they sent me, but found the rust was more extensive that I first noticed. I contacted R&V Works again and they offered to replace it. Said rust was quite unusual. While discussing with them, I asked if they would be willing to let me pay the difference and get a stainless steel model to eliminate the rust issue. They said they would, but then the owner called me and offered instead to have me swap out for a 6 gal all-aluminum model, which was a prototype he was working on. He indicated that since it was aluminum, rust was a non-issue. I figured why not and took him up on his offer. I received and set up the new fryer and so far have been very happy with it. It is a prototype so some items are not fully polished and finished (doesn't affect functionality). I like the 6 gal better than the 4 gal - it doesn't seem as crowded and I can do a turkey in it. They threw in the turkey lifter, too.
It takes about 15 minutes to come to temp.
I got the 100 micron filter @Hotch recommended in this thread which is also working great.
I got this cover which can cover the unit while the baskets are in it.
Will update this thread as needed.

That's the model I have. I think the aluminum is going to be a great fryer living in the Gulf Coast.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

Nice. Yes my heat exhaust pipe has rusted but that's understandable with the propane flame getting it hot as hell. I expected it. I clean and oil rub down mine once a year so it has not rusted very much. A bit of surface rust here and there no big deal.
But I like the aluminum. I travel with mine 3-4 times a year and it can get a bit heavy. Anyway the R&V guys are great!Large BGE, MiniMAX BGE, 2 Mini BGE's, R&V Fryer, 36" Blackstone Griddle, Camp Chef Dual Burner 40K BTU StoveBGE ChimineaProsper, TX -
