The brisket gods hath smiled upon me

I endorse your initial plan of brisket and shoulder. Likely they don't get those groceries very often and not in a backyard setting. Pizza would add the personal pizza touch but I'm thinking the larger wow factor is with the big ol hunks of protein. Just an opinion...Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. The other thing is that if i do za ill be at grill most of evening and not chumming with the fellas. If i do brisket and shoulder once they are on, it is autopilot and i pull it off amd shred/slice and it maximizes time my buddies and i can kick back
I think ill do the que -

If I were in your position, history suggests I might take it a little over the top... but it was worth it.

Shoulder is easy and great, but doesn't carry the "wow" factor of well-executed wings or ribs or beef ribs if you have a good source. But, it doesn't require as much focus and allows for better socializing...XXL BGE, Karebecue, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

These are dudes I went to high school with, we all played football together and we get together every few years. the last time I saw these guys in a reunion form like this was at the Army-Navy game in Philly last Dec. We had a lot of laughs and a great time at the game. Well, one of them was in town last year when the super bowl was in AZ and he came over with his son for ribs. His comment to me after eating them, "dude, if I was going to the electric chair tonite, I would die a happy man." Priceless.
with a little advance planning, I can do the brisket, shoulder and ribs. My neighbor works at Sysco so I get the pork from them- white marble farms. it's really good stuff. And I would go to RD or Costco for the brisket. I just need to stage it all correctly so it's all done at the same time.
Having a few beers, laughs, jumping in the pool and hanging around sounds like a lot of fun, although when I make the 'za I get in the zone and everyone loves that stuff too. it's just that I am at the cooking station until it's all done and these aren't the kind of guys who like to hang around the grill. we wil lhave a baseball game on the outside TV, the pool will be going and we'll be drinking a lot of cervezas.
I am leaning toward the meat proteinfest but if I practice dough making and get it to where it's slack, smooth, easy to spread and make into thin pies, that could be the ticket. I really want to make these guys pizzas but I should probably go the meat route...
All you guys are helping me and I know no matter what I do, it'll be over the top for these characters, as they are not used to egged food. Heck, they boil ribs before they cook them!
I do have a case of Rendezvous seasoning too that I'd like to break intomaybe this is all telling me to make the bbq.....
