The cooking properties of iron far outweigh the small amount of maintenance I have to do to keep them non-stick
Of all the great things that I have seen and read on this forum, the above overshadows them all. I agree 100% my friend. In this modern, high tech world that we now live in, there are all kinds of cooking gadgets and space age materials. However, for old time country cooking, the ole black iron pots and pans still reigns supreme. Some of the best grub that I have ever are came out of the ole black iron.

@YukonRon and @chuckytheegghead:  a couple of years ago, i was in the same situation, trying to decide about AR.  i had met Tom a couple years prior to that at an unrelated to bbq event as we were in the same industry.  He had begun to share with me his passion for bbq and this company he was starting to get off the ground that made aftermarket accessories that expanded the bge, and other ceramic grills' capabilities.   Well a couple of years after that, i got my first bge, then a year later got my second, and ended up with platesetters and multi grids from bge for both.  And then o decided to check out this co Tom mentioned to me when i met him.  So i got adj rigs, oval grids, spider and stone setups for lg and xl.   I gave away my lg platesetter, all the multi grid setups from bge.  And the replaced under warranty xl platesetter is a nice dust collector.

Point is, once you start using the adj rig multigrid setup, you will expand you egg's versatilty tenfold.  I feel like an idiot (wouldnt be the first time) having spent all that dough on bge accessories and knowing at the time i knew Tom.  But often times, i choose the hard way to get things done.   So i am glad you guys are thinking about the ar setup and once you get it, youll never look back

I would love the AR, but I need other things right now and I currently have an older fire box in my XL that is taller then what it came with so I will have to wait till I have replace it it get the AR possibly. I see where the oval stones may not brake as easily because there is not any weight on it like there is for the plate setter.  I should have a new one soon an am going to be very careful with it, but I was with the last two as well.
    Thanks for the advice.
