Introduction from Tom in Lantana, TX

Hi All, my name is Tom.  I have been a member of the forum since June 2012 and I figured I should introduce myself since I spend a GREAT deal of time on the forum reading and gaining knowledge.  I have 2 Eggs.  I have had my Large since 2011 & my Small since mid-2012.  My Small is my workhorse and my Large is my low & slow machine.  Like most others, I cook on my Eggs 4-5 nights a week, sometimes more depending on what we have going on.

We live in Lantana, TX which is north of D/FW right between Dallas & Ft. Worth and south of Denton (Home of the CGS).  We are about 20 minutes or so from Tom’s shop, every time I go up there I spend too much time talking to Tom (the man is an absolute wealth of knowledge when it comes to ceramic/kamado cookers) and too much money on all of the cool stuff that he has in his shop (they are expanding by the way).  Cannot say enough about his customer service and his willingness to answer questions and talk about the same stuff he has probably talked about a million times.

Anyway, I look forward to continuing to expanding my knowledge here on the forum and I look forward to posting some pictures of my cooks.

Thanks, Tom

    Welcome!

Any chance you can make it to Salado this weekend? You're not too far away. Come and hang out if you can... Great grub,  lotsa beer/booze,   and more folks of questionable morals than you can shake a stick at

Welcome aboard. It would be great to see you in Salado in 2 days. According to my phone you can be there in less than 3 hours.

Out of the darkness and into the light. Welcome.

Given the nature of those in the light I can see why you wanted to avoid it for so long.

  • Thank you to everyone for the welcome.  I would love to come to Salado, I read about it every year and always intend to make it down.  I am coaching my little boys soccer team and we have a game on Saturday.  I am going to put it on the calendar for next year.

I hope the weathers holds off, this week in D/FW has been wet and dreary.

It would be great to see you in Salado, but you've got bigger fish to fry.

You'll give up a lot for soccer if your son plays it for many years - but if you make the most of it, it can be the best thing you've ever done.  Except for Egging of course.  I've taken my family to the last two World Cups.  My two kids are now in college, but we have a lot of great memories related to soccer.

He's only 5, but my kiddos take priority over everything.  I am definitely making the most of it.  We will try and make it next year as it seems to be a blast.  I hope everyone has a great time!
