That is true. @DMW we actually keep a box of those instant grits in the cabinet for a quick breakfast sometimes. You have to "doctor" them up and they are no comparison to the real thing, but they play the part and will get you by in a pinch.

@DMW -  here's local (to KY) mill that ships all kinds of products (page linked is grits):

Just thought I would steer you off any dealing with Wally World.
    Good luck with your quest.

I bet you are right. I am slow today. Fighting a cold and no sleep. I choose the girl over the grits if it makes a difference.

That plate is a thing of beauty. All the right stuff.

Okay, I'll join in the grit debate. Stone ground only here. We take the pain out of stirring constantly on the stove by using a rice cooker. Throw everything and and press the button.

OK, I get it, need to check a couple other places around here. @henapple - sorry to have turned this into a "where can Yankees find grits" discussion.
Try Amazon, they sell everything there.... :o

As far as I'm concerned the cheese grits with the shrimp are the pièce de résistance.

Looks great, shrimp and Red Lobster biscuits were already on the menu here for tonight. Now where would I get grits and how would I cook them if I find them...
    You guys are missing out.
Let me know if you cannot source.  I'll be glad to send you some.  If you cannot find them, PM me your address.

I like these grits below.  I want to go there sometime too, it's not far from our house.

Not to hijack, but I get home from a 15 hr day, and nothing in the fridge. So I decide to have breakfast grits.  Grits (made with milk), butter syrup, and a side of bacon. Yum I think.....

Then I open this thread. @henapple 's cook looks like 1000 times better than mine.  I am now finished and am still hungry. Grrrr....

Most of us Northerners think the paste they serve on the side @ Cracker Barrel is grits. I have been lucky enough to have proper grits a few times. No comparison between the two. I have never made them, maybe I will have to give that a try.

Sorry to bring up an old post but I am running low on my stash and would like to know if any stores in metro Atlanta sell stone ground grits.

    Thanks in advance.
