    I lost my favorite wife to cancer. She was incredibly brave through the ordeal, and so many of her friends were: "I'm so sorry I couldn't come see her in hospice...."
    There are reasons and there are excuses. People are uncomfortable facing death, so they avoid the trip and make excuses.

    Glad you went. Keep that memory. The worst part of my experience was all the things left unsaid... I would give up all my tomorrows for a single yesterday so I could tell her how much I admired her courage.

    I want to go to Cancer's house and kick the sh*t out of it.

    Drive a few hundred miles in any direction, and the experience changes dramatically.

    @dougcrann, glad to see you made the trip to see your friend. I have a friend also in hospice. Went to see him the other week. 50 yrs old, lung cancer,  never smoked a day in his life. He still has a daughter in High School yet. He is surprisingly in good spirits yet.
    I guess he's come to grips with it. Prayers to you and your friend.
