not as bad on a ford as a bmw. they f'd up the transmission putting it in, kept replacing parts trying to make it right, eventually bought me a new (reman) transmission, so now we've got 3 years warranty on engine and transmission in a 2002 explorer and he's got about that left to finish college then off the books.NC_Egghead said:@Legume, OUCH if that's coming out of your wallet! A few years ago, my wife and I were driving through far eastern Ky. on I64 at midnight when her car stopped and no cell service. Yep, oil plug had come out. Luckily, the electronics shut down the engine. Had to have it towed to the nearest Foodmart open at that time of night. Fortunately, the plug had lodged on a air deflector under the car. Replaced it, replaced the oil, and continued on.Legume said:

She latter went to the dealer where it had just been serviced before our trip. She called me while there and said they were saying that can happen. Didn't want to pay the tow bill. I told her to tell them her husband was a farmer that serviced ALL his tractors and trucks and a properly installed oil plug would be there when the damn engine was a pile of rust. Some mofo in their service department didn't put a wrench on it. They paid for the tow.Tommy
