OT: TV movie I'm writing - what do you think? :OT

Here’s the plot for a TV movie I’m writing. It’s ALL hypothetical of course…

BACKGROUND: Say there was an 18 year old punk son of a wealthy businessman who killed say 4 innocent people while driving intoxicated and got off scot free with a mere - ah say 10 years probation. Then say he violated probation so a parent - say the mother of the little puke - took him to a foreign country - ah let’s say Mexico.

(I know this plot sounds too ridiculous to be true, but stick with me.)

Say the Mexican authorities finally caught up with them and held them for extradition and the mother was sent back to the US. Then let’s say money began to speak and some Mexican judge decided they needed to investigate the case to make sure that sending the little puke back to face the music didn’t violate his rights even though he was there illegally thereby holding up the extradition! Then say Mexican legal experts estimate it may take months to get him back, if at all, but for now they will detain him.

Meanwhile the puke may be placed in a cell with several men including ol’ Back Door Bob, but that would be another sub plot so I’ll leave it there…

Now a little history refresher - many gangs in Mexico extort and kidnap common folk who have some money - not just the wealthy - for sake of a few thousand pesos. Say some powerful gang leader hatches a plan to break the puke out of jail which could easily be done with bribery. The puke with memories of the night before with old Bob is all too happy to follow his new “friends” out of jail. They whisk him away to a secure hideaway and get ahold of the wealthy father back in the US.  You know…why mess with a few thousand pesos when a $10 million dollars ransom is possible? A twist could also a promise to safely transport the puke to some other foreign country for hiding. You see, besides the $10 million ransom NOW then there could be years of extortion money paid to keep his whereabouts quiet.

Do you think my story has any possibility of being developed into a TV movie OR do you think you may see this play out in real life on the TV news? I think the latter is quite possible and plans are already underway since the judge has already stopped the extradition.

I would say Belize would be a good country to send him too.

Truthfully though, your story isn't real believable.  10yrs probation in the US for a 16 year old who drives drunk and kills 4 people and permently brain damages a friend in his car?

    That is ludicrious.

Has all the makings of a prime time hit movie on the Lifetime Network. You know, poor little rich kid, never did anything wrong kind of theme. I think your on to something. It practically writes itself.

Just be sure to place the Mother and her son and the trial in some wussier blue state like say...Massachusetts.

People would never believe that a judge would give that kid a slap on the wrist for murdering a few folks in a state like say...Texas where they take their justice seriously (Texas ranks number one - by far - in the number of executions in the USofA).

When I saw that picture of the mother back in the US in LA my first thought until I read the caption was "Hey, what did Carrot Top do now that got him arrested?"

Excerpts from recent AP article - maybe my prediction about sleeping conditions wasn't far fetched. To wit:

Couch's wealthy upbringing may not prepare him for the center's common sleeping areas and bathrooms, and concrete wash basins for hand-washing clothes.

Couch will sleep on a cot or bunk in a semi-open bedroom shared with two or three other detainees.

However, the Mexico City holding center has been the subject of complaints in the past, especially by detainees held there for extended periods of time. Detainees have complained about the quality of the food and harsh discipline.

I read a story where the judge in the original case gave him probation since he was a minor. If he was sent to prison, he would have been released at 21 since he was in juvenile court. The story said the judge essentially knew the kid would come down with "affluenza" again so it's stipulated the he will face violating probation in adult court, so he'll face a full sentence. I only hope this all is true.

You sure seem to be fixated on that 10 year old picture of me taken after 4 hours on a 100 degree day egging on an asphalt parking lot with no shade. =) The shirt stunk and the shorts did too after all that, but I won $1,000 plus a large BGE - the second year in a row. BTW I donated both eggs to Easter Seals for their silent auctions both years - the shorts though? those went in the trash...

I want to know what the Donald thinks about this, add that twist to your plot. I do like this story, it is about as believable as the Bollywood star playing an FBI rookie in Quantico....or the stuff going on in Blacklist.....Hope you have pitched to a network, it does sound familiar.

Ron, kudos to you for donating the eggs towards a charitable auction. Well done sir. That's the best part of the whole story.
