Wow, I'm putting on a cab choice brisket tomorrow night and all of the sudden I feel so inadequate.  I just couldn't spend the $$$ on my first one.

That's some suspect looking meat, with weird foreign characters on the label. I would be cautious about the origin of that. Please ship it to me for further examination.

Good morning ... damn that looks good.

No trolling, just a comment on the pic.  Your AR looks so clean ... almost like it was only used once on Sunday to cook a steak ... a small one at that.  One could assume that you're very concerned about cleanliness.  But then, I look deep into the picture and see a bare ass plate setter.  No drip pan, no aluminum foil ... just ceramic gone commando.  Why?

I just bought the AR, second time using it. I was so tired when I put the brisket on that I forgot about foil. I went back and foiled the platesetter about 10 minutes after I put it on. I usually use a pan but that totally slipped my mind. I had been up since 4AM and drove 400 miles in addition to all day work meetings on Friday. Busch League on my part.

A very very small handful. I usually don't do it at all. That's the beauty of SRF, all of it is usable.

Should you find a way, an air-gapped pan would be a good move.  Doubt your foil will contain the fat.  The quantity of rendered fat just from SRF black is quite substantial-likely more with the gold.  However, that only becomes an issue if you open the dome and get a shot of fresh air on the grease soaked fire.  But the fire show will subside once you close the dome.  FWIW-

Yeah I know @lousubcap total hack move on my part. I usually get a quart or so of fat out of my drip pans. I'm the in the stall now so I think I've survived the scare. I was super careful when I took that pic just in case. I generally never open the egg. I know what's in there, no need to look. I took that pic for the thread....

I slid the foil under the AR so it's not totally flat and it has contained the drippings.

@Chubbs ... The missus went on vacation and left me home alone a few weeks ago.  Threw my grills (only have large eggs) in the dishwasher and ran it on pot scrubber.  Pulled the grills while they were still hot (seems the key is "still hot") and ran an SOS pad over them ... the remaining thick stuff almost fell off.  Then ran them through the dishwasher a second time on pot scrubber.  Not that much improvement the second go round.  Now I have more room on the grills.

No problems with the dishwasher being clean afterwards ... surprised me.

@Jeepster47 - I don't care how long SWMBO was gone, that takes stones to run BGE grills thru the dishwasher and then live to tell about it.  ;)

Since @DoubleEgger seems to have fallen asleep after babysitting his stoker all night, I guess we can visit.  I cleaned the electronic air filter units in our other unit a couple of time ... that made a mess and lead to my being banned from doing it any more.  When we replaced the dishwasher, we went with a stainless liner.  Expensive, but well worth it ... that's how I can get away with stuff like grills.

Excellent point. Now I need to upgrade the dishwasher for the BGE. When will it end? More money.
