For those close in NC that have wanted one of these, here's your chance. I have no idea of what they should get. These people are asking $200.

This is actually pretty cool - I can see why people would want one of these."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

Those things were the rage about 15-20 yrs ago until a bunch of people burned their decks down and not to mention themselves. BGE did it right and put the screen across the opening. I think they missed the frenzy thought. Neat idea. I think they were about $300 which was high when the imported clay ones at all the garden stores were less than $100. Of course, back then, a BGE was $300 as well (and everyone scoffed on how expensive that was.) I still have many receipt from 1993.....$299 for the Egg, $29 for the stand, and $17.99 for the cover.

I have a BGE chiminea. It works pretty good. I bought it last year when I stumbled across one. We'll use it more once we tear out our worn out deck and put a patio in. Right now it mostly sits.Flint, Michigan

I have a cast iron chiminea that I bought at Sam's about 15 Yrs ago. It of course is rusted, however it is still in good shape.
I have it on a wooden deck with concrete pavers underneath the chiminea.
I always extinguish the fire at the end of the evening with water. I still worry if the fire may relight during the night.

That's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing the link. I would scoop one of these up if it were ever to become available in my area.

When my beautiful wife and I do Napa, there is a cottage we stay in that has these. It is odd, with the Clean air restrictions, and the drought conditions ongoing, the state government would allow the use of these things. Yet they do. We collect eucalyptus bark and branches along with silver oak to use as firewood, the aroma is fascinating."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber
