believe it or don't.... 1989 or so my wife was working for a US senator, in DC, and he had her reading up and summarizing studies regarding the production of methane by cattle, and its effects on 'greenhouse gasses'. books sent over from the library of congress, articles, etc. IIRC, the issue was whether to fund studies for this sort of thing, or to continue funding them.
1989...
of course eventually everyone thought it was silly sounding, and it sorta became back burner, or at least wasn't pushed very far or too publically
because when it comes to science, in DC what often counts for more than it should is whether something sounds silly to the general public (read: voters), not whether it has actual merit.

I wish I understood what the source of the news has to do with this, it's not like the article was making some bombastic claims. Seems like throwing the baby out with the bath water to me.

Why so worried about which news source we digest, like that's some kind of badge of honor or scarlet letter instead of just taking what we can from whatever sources are available and forming opinions based on the merits of the information?
Where did all of this choosing sides crap come from - are we all trying to be like congress? Are you this biased in real people world, or just internet world? -
I was just cracking a joke. Now I'm watching the mushroom cloud.

The greenies might make future generations allergic to meat to combat Climate Change!
Another modification that Liao proposed was an induced allergy to meat, to help people reduce their consumption of animals. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States 14.5% of all greenhouse gas pollution comes from livestock. So the idea here is to make people allergic to eating meat.

Imagine how many people could be fed (with beef) if they redirected the money they spend on these stupid studys.
Phoenix -
Studys (sic) are stupid.
Studies lead to knowledge
and
knowledge never helped feed anybody.
Stupid studys.

Sounds like something someone from Ohio would say.

It's simple. Science has condemned cattle. No mention of volcanoes, wildfires and all the other things we don't control. I believe in science! Eat more beef, solves the problem right? And then there is pork!Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga
