I noticed that too. I'm not sure. But the seal still seals so it's irrelevant.
Just checked it out and the other side is the same exact way. OMG!!! The cooler has 4 tiny holes plugged with screws where all the worlds oceans will erode the polyurethane foam and cause a -R100 insulation efficiency!!!!

It works too. Too early for regrets. My only concern is packing it with other stuff....I'm curious as to whether or not the opener will catch on things. Would Yeti still honor the warranty with it being their products and installation instructions? That is my concern with drilling holes into my Yeti.XL, Large, Medium, and Mini Max

sure. I think they point is there is no impact to the cooler by simply installing a bottle opener. @4Runner I agree with the comment regarding the "lip". I don't think that's normal. If I were you, I would contact Yeti and show them pics. I understand that the seal is still there, but it's still not right and may get worse over time. More than likely they will send you new cooler (and bottle opener).

Yeah, Yeti got $20 out of me to buy their bottle opener. I predrilled my Roadie and mounted it outside. I questioned whether the plastic was thick enough. The only bad part: it took Yeti over 3 days to return my call on how to do this; and the girl that called back...was only interested in selling me something else. ;0(If it's brown, it's cook'in....If it's black, it's done ---my Grandfather Medium BGE

Mine was only $15. I submitted an email question to Yeti today and they responded within the hour. Bad news, you have to spend $10k on a custom logo as my local dealer doesn't carry any more. Obviously, this doesn't work for me. I have an opener on my table and if I'm too far away or chillin on the beach with my Pelican or (Yeti if I get one) I don't need no stinking extra opener I have 4 pairs of these babies.
