OT - YETI Bottle Opener Install
Anyone mount the YETI opener to their YETI cooler? If so, did you pre drill or just go straight in?

NO! You spent a lot of money on a cooler that works for weeks. DO NOT drill/screw/even duct-tape anything onto/into it!___________

I did not mean to come off harsh, but seriously, please do not do that!___________

Yep, I have watched the video. Just don't say whether to pre drill or not. Screws look like they will go in just fine. Guess I'll just dive in and post results.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

If- and this is a big if- I was drunk enough to do it, I'd buy some two part epoxy, predrill the holes (I'm guessing a 1/8 inch bitt) and squeeze some epoxy into each hole before I ran the screws in. This will help seal the holes from water intrusion and help the screws from backing out as well.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

I'd use a Bic lighter....Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Predrilling is always a good idea

Definitely pre drill and I agree with the above I would epoxy the holes and the back of the opener if possible to keep it from pulling out.
-
I wonder if Liquid Nail would do the trick
-
I just put one of the retractable key chain things with a yeti bottle popper attached to the side. No drilling and I can pull the popper to where I want it to be.
-
I did to my 65. Pre-drill, worked just fine.Egging year 'round in North Dakota

How about a center punch ... yeah center punch? How much of a rebel are you?I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

Probably would be fine without drilling it, but I agree that you just shouldn't. Stick it on a 2x4 and carry it in the cooler.
-
i would go small with the predrill size. why is there so much hesitation drilling a hole in a plastic cooler, if you cant do this, dont ever buy a boatfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
-
I have them on exterior front (below lid) of 45 and 65. I did not pre-drill. Works great. Zero impact to cooler. Glad I have them.

Do what SGH said in a previous thread. Register your cooler on their website and they send you a free yeti bottle opener. Tie that to your cooler in the little holes already on the sides of the cooler.

@4Runner: I mounted on outside because a) I wanted as much interior space as possible b) Walls are thicker than top (? not sure). c) The instructions from Yeti gave outside as an option d) I wanted the used caps out of cooler, not in. e) key chain option "clanks around" and gets in the way a lot. On a side note: I can't possibly think opener would degrade the construction or cooling capabilities.
