Fried Fare

In case you're interested in what fried delicacies are being offered at this year's Texas State Fair, have a look. I wouldn't mind trying one of each.

Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.

Fried lobster, that has to be heaven. I have never had it fried. Is it better than steamed, boiled and grilled?

Never had it fried myself but, my oh my, I bet it's good. I'll actually be in Dallas for a family wedding while the Fair is on... I just might go out there and try some.

Your post has really caught my attention and raised my curiosity brother of the North. After some quick googling, I found this and it looks insane. Headed to SAMs to get to lobster tails. This is a done deal tonight if SAMs has some tails. Thanks for posting this. As you are well aware, lobster along with oysters is my very favorite.

That does sound good! Maybe I won't wait for my Texas visit to try this myself. Does Sam's carry fresh or frozen tails?

The SAMs in Gulfport, Mississippi only has frozen from what I have seen. But they are still great. I used some to copy your lobster cook a while back and they were phenomenal. I will let you know tonight now they turn out if they have any.  This is a done deal my friend.

There was a restaurant here in Atlanta that had fried lobster tail and it was un-freakin-believable (103 West).  I've also had it at Chops Lobster Bar but don't know if it is a permanent menu item or seasonal.

Thanks for the reply. In my mind it has to be insane. Lobster is far and away my favorite thing to eat. Well, it and oysters. I can't believe that I haven't ever thought of deep frying it before. We deep fry just about everything down here. Heck I have deep fried whole cans of SPAM before. How the heck did I skip deep fried lobster.

Fried SPAM now that is a true Southern delicacy.......on Wonder bread slathered with mayo.  Takes me back to those hot summer days of my childhood.

Let me know how you like the lobster fried - I'm pretty sure what the verdict will be but curious none the less.  I love it with a bowl of drawn butter and/or honey mustard (sounds weird but believe me - it's awesome!)

While in Boston to catch U2, I had my very first Lobster Roll. Oh my. The second through the tenth were just as good. Like to know how those were done!

There are a few restaurants in the Atlanta area that serve fried lobster tail. It's fantastic!! My $.02.....a couple of smaller ones beat the pants off one large one. Smaller equals sweeter and more tender.....and cheaper!!

Fried lobster is great- I recommend doing a tempura batter. I like the texture better with lobster. Or cut into chunks and fry- good stuff

I wasn't able to get any lobster tails today. SAMs didn't have any out. Will look again tomorrow if I don't get called into work. I have got to try this.
