An attempt at entertaining guests tonight.

Options
So now that we have a mostly finished deck, we've started entertaining the neighbors. I got the wild hair to have a couple couples and their kiddos over tonight.

Boy what a learning experience.

Before I go further, there's no pics, so bite me.

I started early this morning with a 3 lb chuck roast for pulled beef sliders. Set it where I thought it'd be good and left for work. Got home at 1 and it was done. I thought really past done. Wrapped it in foil with coffee and wine. At 3ish it was the best Chuck roast I'd ever done!

And that's where the train derailed.

Me being a dumbass I put it in a Tupperware in the fridge. Cleaned the house and prepped the abts. I then got behind, and I knew it as my guests were arriving. Abts were also burning as I forgot a drip pan.

The chuck roast was still in the fridge.

What was dumbass number one doing? Oh I was frying fries in my cheap-ass undersized electric fryer....

Really the only saving grace was the incredible salsas I found in the lettuce section at Publix. Yeah it was good.

Everyone was polite and had a good time but I know I just sucked tonight.

Brother Miah, my hunch is that you are being to critical of yourself. I'm sure that the food was just fine. More often than not, we are our own worst critics.

Sorry man.   I'll bet it all came off a lot better than you're thinking.

Pour yourself something and go to your happy place.

  • I agree with @SGH.  Your line "...there's no pics, so bite me."  Made me laugh because I think we've all been there.  Cheer up and cook something good tomorrow.

That's a bold move frying fries for a crowd without a big fryer. I'm so going to do a chuckie soon as it's a cut I haven't tossed on the egg yet.

I bet, a cool evening hosted by you, and any food for the folks you invited, was way better, and much more dialed in, than any option your guests will ever have. You are an Egger, you made their week !
