Arthur Bryant's BBQ in KC

A few weeks ago I posted photos from Q39 so I thought I would post a few from another favorite of mine, Arthur Bryant's BBQ.  Burnt ends sandwich and sausage sandwich, beans and a side of fries.  All is great and worth it, but Q39 is better.  Beans at AB's are better.  I got it to go so it is hard to show how much food you get.  Let's just say it is a lot.  It's another must stop place for BBQ when in KC.  Go to the original near 18th and Brooklyn.

I had the pleasure of eating there when I was in KC great place the burnt end sandwich was awesome!

It is one of the oldest BBQ joints in KC.  I am stuffed and there is a lot left for the wife and kids for dinner.  I may not be eating much for dinner.

Dang that looks good and makes me miss living in KC for sure! That brisket was da bomb 8 years ago when I left.

ABs is indeed an awesome KC spot, and I couldn't agree more about the beans. I actually think the beans at Q39 are a particular weak point in the offering, which is not to take ANYTHING away from how good they are at ABs. Another great choice for the 'old school' feel is Gate's BBQ. If anywhere can hang with ABs in KC for that vintage goodness it's Gate's. My bet for best beans in KC is still (Oklahoma) Joe's; quite possibly the best beans I've ever had anywhere.

Man, KC is like murderer's row for great BBQ! Gotta get down there more often...

Where is Q39?  Jack Stack has the best beans, they have as much meat in them as a sandwich.

Yeah we tried it a few years back when we were in town for a wedding...the portions they give you are crazy!

Q39 at 1000 W 39th in KC, MO. It's really good stuff; well worth a visit.

I somewhat agree with you about JackStack in that the beans are the best thing on the menu, but for my money I'd still take Joe's...

How did you like their sauce?  I ordered it online a few years back and we (my family) didn't care for much.

Your are correct, sir.  I like Gates, but prefer AB's.  I haven't been to Kansas City Joe's (aka Oklahoma Joe's) in a long time, but think it is time to go again.  Smokin Guns is a great place I hear too.  I have yet to go there yet.  I have used their rubs and like it.  I would love to start a catering business but there is a lot of competition here for that.

I like it, but it is a little different.  Today I had Sweet Heat. AB's is famous here for his sauce.  Here is an article about the sauce year's ago when AB passed.

@4Runner I agree. We can buy it locally around here, but it has a distinct taste that you either care for or not.

Last time I was in KC, I nearly overdosed on burnt ends. I love the Q there, and I have not had it better anywhere else that I have been. Dang. I gotta get back there soon.

Thank you. I will be in KC the end of the month for a Chiefs preseason game. I think Q39 is pretty close to the Plaza.

Yes it is.  It is west and south a little.  @bill37, you in town for the Titans game?  My family and friends will be there.
