OT whaT kind of pepper is this??

I bought small plants from a local nursery this year. They were labeled jalapeño   Don't think they were labeled properly. Any ideas.  Are they scotch bonnet ?? .

Not Scotch Bonnet, and almost certainly not Jalapeno. Look like banana peppers.

gotta taste em to know for sure... if its banana peppers, i would not eat them as ABT but rather a fresh ingredient in an omelet...

Sure is a far cry from the jalapeños I thought I was planting.

When life gives you lemons make lemonade, when life gives you banana peppers make MDF's (Mule Deer Farts) - like an ABT but with the sweet banana pepper....

Those are banana peppers.  They're good pickled if you're into that sort of thing.

Definitely banana peppers. We have some regular and hot banana peppers and they are very good raw. Those are the mild banana peppers. The hot are a lot shorter than mild ones. One thing to keep in mind that the first picking will be very mild, but it will get hotter with later pickings. Keep them picked or they won't keep producing more. Throw them on some pinto beans or make an omelette with cheese, bacon and peppers. We have sliced peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers as a side dish with almost every meal.

Banana peppers. There are both hot and mild varieties. Those are mild or sweet banana peppers. I love them cut open, sliced and cleaned, light crisp batter deep fried. Around these parts, they are appetizers for southern style meals.
I am growing some, and in reverse to you, one of the plants I bought turned out to be jalapeño. Such is life.

It's for sure a banana pepper - but what type of banana it's hard to say. You'll have to try one first to really determine. Here is a great list of the types of banana peppers
