(I don't know where I'm supposed to post my question)
I have a kamado (egg) from the 70's that was purchased in Japan. I currently have it listed on CL http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/for/5106075456.html
I really don't know anything about them except that the few times we cooked steak on it, it tasted exceptionally good! Anyways, I know I probably don't have it priced right, but I'd like to get a few opinions on how much this would be worth in the condition that it's in. Since I'm totally new to this I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules which I did read. I'm not promoting or trying to sell my kamado... I just want pricing opinions. Thank you for any info!

Not a whole lot. If it's in good condition with no cracks I would probably think about $100. They are fragile and crack easily.

"Not trying to sell my kamado"...here is a link to buy my kamado.

cool to see, although not sure it would be worth much.

That's a family heirloom why sell it!

For that price I can buy a new large. After negotiation.

Was that Curt Cobain's old egg? If so it is worth some bank!
If not...seems pretty high.
but you know what PT Barnum said... -
I have seen people post that they found these for $40, $50...even $10. Unless it has some "antique" value I don't expect it is worth much. Here is a thread for reference.

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Let me be real nice and say; "If someone offers you anywhere near $700.00, grab it and run."
I would be very hard pressed to offer $100.00 for it.
Those cookers are very fragile, won't travel well or long, and they are difficult to repair/replace parts when they break.
Keep it, seal the cracks, use it for low and slows, or make it an ornamental deco piece for the backyard or garden, as a family heirloom, it will be a great conversation piece.

First of all you admitted that what you cooked on it was good so here's what I would personally do. If you don't already own an egg then cook on this one if you already own a modern big green egg then cook on this one and decide if you want to buy a new egg. Unless of course you can get the money you want out of it. I don't think you will but it would be excellent to have one for a collection and to cook onColumbus, Ohio--A Gasser filled with Matchlight and an Ugly Drum.

Fascinating how the BGE design is nearly identical. Guess the adage "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" applies in this case. Two Large Eggs, 6 gal Cajun Fryer, and a MiniMax in Charlotte, NC - My New Table

It's not a Tiffany lamp.

Thank you to 10 of the comments that gave me a dollar amount, useful opinions, a reference and even the funny comments (especially the Kurt Cobain egg.) I already had a couple offers and wanted to give a fair price so I have a better idea now. Thank you!

That seems like a fair price to start with. If it doesn't sell, lower the price.
I'd pay $150 for it and use it for low and slows, also as an interesting conversation piece. Why do people own vintage cars? They don't perform very well, aren't safe, but we like them and collect them.

It's only real value is as a collectible/decor piece. I'd never cook on it. I'd give $100-$150 for it if it could be restored.
