OT - Yeti Tundra 65 from Costco $350. Is this product as good as the reviews?
For my annual trip to NY, I use a generic Cooler to pickup meat and stuff. It does the job but requires ice refills every day which is annoying.
With all this discussion of BGEs being sold at Sams & Costco, should I be concern with other big ticket items? Yeti's website says there's a 5 year warranty to the original owner, nothing about authorized dealers...

Costco has the Pelican 95 qt for $295. Lifetime warranty.

I know lots of people that have them and they are nice. I just personally haven't found the use case to justify the cost. With the savings in ice, it would pay for itself it about 65 years.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I wouldn't worry about grey market. They sell huge quantities of Pelican coolers, so many I'm sure they buy them from Pelican.
Edit - don't see many Yetis at our Costco, but I wouldn't worry about it either way.

My biggest concern with Yeti is they seem to have legs and just walk off. My good friend had his stolen from camp. My big cooler is the first thing I want out of the truck so I have room to access everything else so its always out of the truck. The price for these coolers is ridiculous there are others that might not be as good but still do the job. The less insulated coolers have to be packed better with a combination of block ice and cubed and don't open very often. If you drink a soda every 5 min your ice will melt fast. The price is why I haven't pulled the trigger on one. All my friends have them and think they are better than peanut butter so if you've got the money buy it! I also know one guy that uses his in his raft and it doubles as a seat. Other coolers wouldn't allow 2 adults to sit on the cooler all day. This multi function aspect to the yeti made it worth the price for him. Also their are national parks that require bear proof coolers if camping so that might be another reason to go with a yeti. The warranty thing is dumb because you're not going to have any issues with them until way after that warranty has expired. All that being said I still really want one! Maybe some day.

I have a Yeti, love it. Will buy another. I have had about 30 coolers, that just have no durability, some do not last a year. I have had my Yeti for 3 years, of hard use, and it is still as strong as the day I got it. I do lock mine down, and I do lock it up. Best I have ever owned. I will pass it to my children when I am gone. It is that durable. I would get the 65 at that price."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I have a Yeti 45. Hard to beat a Yeti which is like the BGE of coolers. The 65 would be pretty heavy loaded down.

If that's a great price, you might call yeti support and just ask about warranty if it's a Costco receipt. I would think costco would cover you during that period if denied by yeti This is one toy I WANT but heck I don't use a cooler enough to justify a decent Coleman. Lol. I have a lust for primo equipment though and I consider Yeti in that category. You'd love it on your trip I bet.LBGE, AR. Lives in N.E. ATL

If you want one- I wouldn't at all about the warranty. Costco will take it back if you have any issues.

Just purchased the Pelican 65 from Costco for $275 free shipping. Figure I will check it out and take it back if I don't like it. Seems like a good price.XL,L,SWinston-Salem, NC

If you want Yeti, wait until REI has a 20% off sale. I bought a Roadie for $70 using my dividends during the sale.

I remembered reading this review of coolers a couple of years ago:
http://thesweethome.com/reviews/the-best-hard-cooler/
I pretty much agree with what they said.
I guess if I was routinely airdropping my cooler out the back of a C130 a Yeti might be worth the bucks. But I'm not so I wouldn't buy one.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
