My pop-up finally plum wore out. Trying to decide between a large tilt umbrella and another mediocre pop-up. Leaning hard toward a decent quality umbrella we can use at the beach and on the table. Looking at between 9' and 11' . Huge price fluctuation brand to brand. Want something that'll last. I've seen a couple with Sunbrella fabric and that's definitely a possibility.

I know the feeling. Been through 2 pop ups (both beach casualties). Now baseball season is upon us and I have nothing AND I'm not coaching, so Imma want some shade. Decisions....

We've gotta get one for camping. I really want a good 12x12. Ezup used to be the best, but now I don't know. I had a Walmart 9 fter that was junk. Damn thing blew over after one weekend and done.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

I believe all of the wholesale clubs have some brand or another. I know same has a few decent big ones.

For those hot days when a large break between games, we'd set up pop ups and have the team under them with the mist fan under the tent too. Worked really well especially if you sink some frozen 2 liter bottles of water in the cooler or ice bags.------------------------------

@tarheelmatt those softball players are hardcore. Luckily, at 8, baseball is usually no more than 3 games in a day, but NGA in July is hot in the sun!
-
@tarheelmatt I like the pop-up but, I'm leaning hard toward the large umbrella. Here's our Redneck AC. It works pretty darn good especially during those hot spells.

Blake, what kind of fan is that? Assuming ice water on the inside, air intake thru that fan mechanism, then out thru the the 90?

@theyolksonyou Our Son & I made this for less than $20-$25. Fan is 120V (can be used on an inventor though). Block or cubed ice and gets around 20°-30° below ambient. The 4" PVC is the supply vent and it swivels. Many YouTube how tutorials on this subject. It was his idea.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Love the redneck AC. Could you make it run off of a 12v lighter plug?Fish, Hunt, Cook....anything else?

If anyone knows of a really solid pop-up option, I'd like to know. I've gone through 2 cheap ones over the past 2 seasons and I'd like a new 10'x10' straight leg.
Let me know what you decide Blake.They/Them

@ksmyrl Yes you can. With an inventor or just go to a straight up 12 VDC motor.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Costco has/had some with the Coleman Name on them FWIW. Coleman used to be The Brand, now , meh.
the ones I saw were sturdy and looked pretty decent.
Another alternative that folds small and carries light is a sunshade from LLBean.
It looks like half a dome tent, using CF poles and steaks, has a floor good room inside and plenty of covetable vents. My wife and I take it everywhere, and everyone that sees it wants one. There may be variations on these at REI, cabellas, etc., they are handy."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I've seen the Coleman up close looked pretty solid. I also like their latch system. I was looking at one for work. May just get a umbrella that runs through the trailer hitch.2-XLs ,MM,blackstone,Ooni koda 16,R&V works 8.5 gallon fryer, express smoker and 40" smoking cajun

@YukonRon the little tent would be sorta cool at the beach. At my house on the deck for the egg table area...not so much. And agreed the Coleman name brand used to be synonymous with outdoor fun but, competitors and others have really risen to the occasion.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

@NPHuskerFL I have the Coleman 10'x10'. Easy setup. Seems like a good frame. And the latches are big red paddles not the little PITA buttons. Picked it up at Costco.

Blake, IMHO the umbrella is a pita. Too small. Any wind at all and you're wet. Also it seems the pole is always in the way. Twss.
@EggObsessed has an awesome canopy. Hopefully she'll chime in.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN -
@henapple Thinking of getting an umbrella and pop-up now. My table has the umbrella pole holster welded in so it's not in my way. But, the umbrella is more for shade than rain protection. I'm still looking around.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

We have something very similar to this: http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/mosaic-13-x-13-pop-up-gazebo/pid-1023302?color=Khaki/Black&N=4294723005+610345069 We don't use the pole covers though. What is very beneficial about this is the vent at the top. Wind flows through it better and doesn't lift it up. It's 13' x 13'. Absolutely love it!!KelleyEgging with No Joke Smoke (Bruce), enjoying small town life in Brenham, TX., the home of Blue Bell Ice Cream.
