That's crazy. I don't care how good it is, I'm not waiting in line for five hours even if the Pope was serving it.

I'm not a patient man at all. Never have been. However knowing Franklins reputation and hearing all the fuss about his place, I would bite the bullet one time and stand in line to try his grub. Then if nothing else, I would have a mark to measure my food as well as others against. There is a old saying that goes: good things come to those who wait. So someday I will be standing in that line. I do understand some folks reservation about the wait. After all time is money. Since I don't have much money but hopefully plenty of time left I would wait.
Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
Status- Standing by.

I've tailgated at the Iron Bowl a few times but waiting in that line looks waaay more fun!

I can sit in a lawn chair and drink beer with the best of them. Total tailgate atmosphere, lots of fun.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

Strong points made in this thread....day drinking tailgate atmosphere....yes I can do that.Seattle, WA

I was there last October - it was the highlight of a 3 week Texas trip. Very much worth the wait. It's hard to believe there's a 3+ hour wait every day. If you ask, they will take you in to see the next day's food in the pigs. I'm definitely not a stand in line kind of guy - this one is worth the wait, however long it takes.Santa Paula, CA

Oh but it is- brisket is by far the best I have ever had. Pulled pork was so so. Sausage and pork ribs were also outstanding.
His flat is more moist than most people's point.

Everyone is right - it is a tailgate/experience, not waiting in line for food.
If you get a group, you can actually bulk order ahead of time and skip the line. I think they still do it, but it was pretty small minimums, 5 lbs maybe. You e-mail in on the first of the month, and see if you get in in time because orders are limited. Then you show up on the day you requested by 10:30am to get your to go order.
If you are late, your meat gets served to the regular line. If you dont email at the first of the month for the following month, dont worry about it because you waited to long anyway.Victoria, TX - 1 Large BGE and a 36" Blackstone -
Waited 6 hours before getting my food - man, this is crazier than two years ago (was only 4 hours wait back then). So, I waited in line at 8am and got the food around 2pm. Totally worth it though - the brisket melts in your mouth!!!

I'm more impressed that your family waited that long with you! Looks great!Mike - (1)LBGE, HeaterMeter v4.2.4

@thegooddocta Well, they really didn't wait in line that long because they went out to grab some fast food and stayed in the car most of time. Though, they stayed starting around 12 or 1 so keeping them in check for the last hour or so is kinda tricky
