Very cool.  I have not been there.

I was in India many many years ago (Delhi and Agra), and found the population density to be a real trip.  By all accounts it's increased significantly since I was there, so I can't even imagine what it's like now.

My neighbor used to go routinely for John Deere and would show me pics of 4-6 people riding a moped with their whole life right in their lap amongst other crazy things. The photos were quite disturbing sometimes.

If you look close there are 4 people on this bike .... son, father, daughter, mother sitting side saddle.  Saw this everywhere.

Traffic is bit hectic at times, but they guys here say it is light compared to Delhi.

  • @Ozzie_Isaac - that view looks miles more modern than when I was there.  What blew me away in Delhi was how every single mode of transportation was on the road at the same time.  Cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, rickshaws, donkeys... you name it.  One gigantic stew of people.

See. Lot of this in the DR. Actually saw some one who had designed some homemade outriggers and had people hanging off the sides.

In the city it was mostly motorized,  aside from people walking through traffic.  It is amazing how it all works.  I think the companies who think they can build an autopilot for cars should test them here.  Everything just flows.  Almost no traffic lights, no stop signs, just steady flowing traffic in all directions.  Even on a divided road it was common to see people going the wrong way.  Lanes are painted but nobody pays any attention to them.  Even on uncrowded roads people straddle the lanes.

Outside of town there were rickshaws, bicycles, cattle etc.  The picture below was on the outer loop highway.

@Ozzie_Isaac I've been to Bengaluru a few times and am astounded by how well traffic flows, exactly as you describe.  It's horribly slow to get anywhere, but that's pure volume, I'm not sure the flow could be much more efficient.  Half the traffic here brings traffic to a standstill.

Also notable, zero road rage with all of that chaos.  Scariest thing to me was the scaffolding around new construction - several stories high and it seemed to be bamboo poles lashed together.

a few pics, first one was actually on the freeway

    Love you bro!

I don’t think those last two words are really necessary, are they?
