    Brunch at Frontera,
Oaxacan Carne Asada, side of spicy bacon.

    Best thing I ever ate.

    The End.

Spotted cow is good stuff.  Had it when I was in WI and loved it.  Have not seen it down in TX.
Spotted Cow is only sold in Wisconsin. Even us bordering states need to make a dip into Wisco for it
Good thing the other 49 states aren't missing out. Had it at a friend's house last year after they brought it back from a business trip to Wisconsin. Probably the biggest(negative) difference in the expectation/reality experience I've had with a beer. :-/
    Do you even drink beer?
Yes. Spotted Cow is just an inoffensive, regular beer. Nothing wrong with that... It just doesn't live up to its "unicorn" status due to the limited availability.
I have noticed with my beer loving friends, the more offensive the brew the better they feel it is? I get the need for some character, but sometimes I think it’s a competition to see who can stomach the worst crap in a bottle or can. Lol!
I agree.  You judge a good brewery by it's good Pilsner or Lager.  Nothing to hide behind.

This hop train is rolling strong.  Not a huge fan.

Have fun with the fam in Ames my friend.

    Bacon, is bacon.
    It never disappoints.

Got these for $6.99 lb.  We debated going out but we both agreed ours was better than theirs.

Asian nachos, Goose Island Chicago Pale Ales, at the Grand Lux Cafe.  Fried wonton, peanut sauce, crushed peanut, brilliant fusion.  So F'n good.

Sitting at home in two extremely conflicting emotions.

In the morning and early afternoon we were at a  Bar mitzvah where we were celebrating a friend of ours son entering into adulthood. (This was the second one I have ever been to.) Seeing the celebration, everyone happy and excited knowing he has his life ahead of him and wondering what he was going to end up doing with it was a joy to see. All the singing, dancing, happiness and fun everyone was having was fantastic. The smiles, laughter and joy filled every room we were in.  The parents were understandably over-the-moon proud of their son today. But we had to leave the celebration before it ended.

From there we went to another friends son's funeral.  He took his life at age 21. He was smart, funny, successful in a job he loved, good looking, had a long-time truly stunning girlfriend, basically had everything going for him. He ended it for an unknown reason and apparently with no warning to anyone. No letter, no clues, hints, and noone knew of any events just prior to that afternoon where he made his last decision to stop it all. Everyone is now left wondering why. All the wishes and hopes one had for him were never going to come to fruition. Seeing the mass number of people showing up to say goodby was astounding. The parents were understandably heartbroken, confused, angry, exhausted, and visibly in disbelief as they looked at their their son for the last time was simply overwhelming.

So as I sit here, I think how ironic life is. How in a blink of an eye life enters a new chapter for one person, yet in that same blink it ends for another.
It hurts my head and messes with me to the core.

Godspeed to the both of them.
    ......and to you as well.

    Duck!

I let this one air-dry in the frig overnight, poked the skin all over with my (exceedingly useful) sausage pricker, smeared a bit of butter over all, then sprinkled with DP's Tsunami Tspin.  Roasted breast-down, raised indirect, at 400 with a bit of pecan, then after 30 minutes flipped breast-side up, stuck in my brand new Thermoworks Smoke (which froze at 86.4∘, prob operator error) and took it to 165.  Best duck skin I've done yet, but it STILL had too much unrendered fat, will shoot for 500 next time.

Was going to try spatchcocking (spatchdrake?) it, but ran out of time; no matter, the breast and leg meats were both spot-on.  Just need to keep experimenting on the skin.

We did actually.  Duke had a chance to tie it up at the end but couldn't pull it off.  Final score was 17-10.

Tough loss for Duke, but most people here are just happy they're competitive with the FSUs of the world.  Ten years ago, the score of this game would've been 45-3.
