Cruised the Dells Ave, stopped in at The Pepper Palace, guy was cool, gave me a toothpick with the tip dipped in "The End" as he was ringin' me up for some ground Bird's Eye. Apologized to the guy for not being able to talk. He said the guy before puked outside. Lol
Good thing pops were a deal at the supermarket on our way back to base camp.
Found me a sweet Christmas tree ornament for 7 bucks on the left.
Vienna Wisconsin cheddar dogs with pecan on the Jumbo Joe, nothin' fancy...pie irons in the campfire later.

It is not an economically sound decision.
At all.
About 20-23k fuel (round trip) if we do it a little below cruise speed, 6k in oil changes (one there, one before we leave, one when we get back), replace hoses, belts, impellers, filters etc... and let's not forget the ~1k/month for docking if we can find somewhere that reasonable.
That is 40K'ish for a winter.
And if nothing breaks.
Which something will.
Then add in all the air fare....
Stupid.
We are tossing around the idea of doing it the winter of '19-'20. Not sure if it will really happen, but we are seriously considering doing it once.
Hell, You only live once, and we think that would be a really really cool trip and experience.
We have two dock neighbors that do it every year. They like the trips "to and from" more than being at the two destinations. The one guy is taking his to the Bahamas next week - he leaves Monday.

@DMW maybe you can put me in touch with that buddy of yours that is the pilot that flew you to some bars a year or two ago. Maybe it was longer than that... not sure. Some bartering might work for us both.--------------------------------------------------

@Eggcelsior several people do it - especially those with the LRC (long range cruisers) that as you say putt along at 6-12 knots. Envious of their 6-8 gallon per hour burn rate, and I also want to do the great loop. When we retire, that is our goal. By that time I will be too old and frail to be doing these 80-110 mile one way trips to fight tuna etc for a day trip, but I know I will still love being on the water!--------------------------------------------------

I presume your boat is not diesel? How many feet?
______________________________________________I love lamp.. -
It is diesel, but twin 900 hp Mann engines are thirsty buggers. At cruise, we burn about 48-52 gal/hr, then tack on another 6-8 gal/hr for the generator. It is a 50 foot Viking. Full disclosure- not mine. My cousins. She can not and does not drive it. Actually, does nothing but pay for everything which is the best scenario for me. I am basically her boat b1tch, I recognize that and I am perfectly fine with that.
