Sweating.  Today is 110, and that's the coldest it's gonna be all week.  They are already warning afternoon flights may be halted mid week.  I guess things get dicey when it gets into the high teens.

And btw, 110 is not hot enough to fry an egg.  We're gonna try again on some smooth black asphalt when it hits 119 on Wednesday.

I don't remember a damn thing from college chem.
    Nor should you.
At Iowa State Chem 147 was the big "weed-out" course for engineers; the very first day the instructor strode into the 400-seat lecture hall, said "Hi I'm Prof XX.  Everyone look at the person to the left of you.  Now, the right.  Only one of you will be here come the Final.  Okay, let's get started..."
     :o
And WE were paying THEM!  I was never so happy to get a "C" in my life (in fact, it may have been my first).
Good luck, Battleborn; you might ask her if she'd look into Real Estate one more time....

In the UK we have a training system where people rarely fail / are kicked out. They run on the basis of rigorous selection for popular courses like medicine and assume that this picks the best candidates. They would do well to emulate other countries and select a wider range of people and see who is actually good at the subject.

The opposite. We spend too much time pre-selecting academically rather than allowing more people in and seeing who sinks and who swims.

Standard college line above.   No matter where you go, they can teach you more than you can learn... but then they are getting paid.

Hell they told us that in orientation at Ga Tech. Knowing the failure rates, it was 100% accurate.

There was an E Mag class freshman year that I made a 7 on. 7 out of 100. 100 kids in the class. I got a C.

On the first day of class. my Calc 3 professor said that if any of us made above a 50 on any pop quiz or test, we'd get an automatic A and didn't have to come to class again. Of course nobody broke 50.

Chicken Madras with dried habanero chilies and whole fresh green finger chilies. Quite hot.

I put the stone in to do some chapatis from the freezer, then realised there were none left, so having pitta instead plus leftover veg from yesterday.

Ha! Unfortunately for her, I am more of an auditory learner.  She is taking this class online and I have a tough time helping her because it is all reading out of textbook.  I keep telling her that D's (not those kind of D's) get degrees and she can get through this class and bring her average up in subsequent classes.

i remember learning about bell curves in a strength of materials course. class of 153, at the end of the year there was 150 F's, 1 D (me), 1 B, and 1 A.   applying the bell curve, the A stayed an A, the B turned into a C, I FLUNKED. every bathroom stall had writing that said KYROSSUCKSRHINODICK.  =)

This is interesting, I'd like to know more about the British "training system".  I've never been a super-strong student (I often joke that my GPA is as strong as utah beer) but I've always done well on the aptitude tests (99%-ile in math and science, dropping to 98% on the GRE (the grad school level test)).  I've noted too many eery parallels in my career, too.
I've been thinking about this kinda stuff a lot the last few months, forgive me for being OT.

Panicked when dough wasn't rising when turning in night before of RRV Eggfest, thought I killed the yeast nuking the water too long.  Whipped up an extra batch.  It ended up being just fine.  Sausage, Conecuh Cajun, balsamic ernyin, pepp, whole milk mozz (despite Kenji stating not to), cheddar, basil, parm.

To be completely honest, the oven cooked the toppings a little better, 23 min at 500.
