Curious if you glean any pearls of wisdom that will cause you to change investment strategies??

I glean several pearls of wisdom from them every time they talk.  Today was no exception.  Berkshire owns so many company's in so many different industries that when they get discussed I learn something new about that particular industry.
One of the most important things I get from them and it's nothing new, is patience and discipline.  It's good to be reminded of that often.
Thought process and a certain mentality of which WEB has is also something to strive for.  It's a constant learning process, and I will never know everything, but if I can constantly increase my knowledge I will be a better investor.
It's also a good motivator.  I will admit I've been pretty lax with my money over the last 6 months.  This gets me motivated and focused back on my personal portfolio.  I've been invested with BRK for close to twenty years now.

Thanks for the comments and insights.  I wish I had the discipline to be studious and applied with the market.  Given my previous life where I couldn't change anything for months at a time, I became a disciple of the "buy and hold strategy" and for the most part I've not regretted that.  Some buy and holds were better than others, but over the long haul I'm not regretting the forced lack of communications.
But being a lazy creature of habit, and now with 24/7 communications I still default to the old model.  However, I can see the end-game and I'm confident I will get there with enough to pay for the oven.  ;)

@NCSmoky - thanks for the stick.

Helped friends move today. Made pizzas tonight.

Family is coming over tomorrow for lunch to celebrate Big Guy turning 12. Have a brisket in the egg being watched by the Stoked. Rain is on the way so Stoked has its rain gear on.

    Sitting by the fire now.

putting smoke on some potentially messed up bacon.  i threw some in to cure maybe a month ago, and wasn't happy, so i reapplied cure - maybe 2 weeks ago?  geez this is very sloppy bacon making!  cut into 4 pieces and put 4 different BBQ rubs on it.  thinking this will be bacon for sammies, not breakfast.

So many questions, but hope it works out.  All I do know, is please be careful with gradient brines and curing salt.

Recently had our first ropy brine, a slimey delight.  Tried to save by rinsing and making another equilibrium brine.  We couldn't save it.  Thank God it was reg poke, and not Berkwood.

Just got in the door from the Myrtle Beach and dropping a deuce. Nothing like home.

On another point, what I hoped to have a clear mind when I returned home has kinda came back to my mind from a work situation that chapped my rear end before I left.

@focker this belly has been through hell. I had it in a basic cure. Then I threw some brine on it. Then I desalinated - too long. I fried a piece and it was barely cured. So I put more cure on. Didn't desalinate this time, just a few rinses in water. Hot smoked over oak. Flavor is great but too salty.

    That ropy brine sounds grim!

I had this happen on my last bacon. I sliced it then soaked in some water and it really helped. Sure I lost some flavor but it wasn't edible at first.

@Lit good idea. Wish I hadn't already packed and frozen it. I have simmered in water before frying, that also helps, but your way would have gotten that step out of the way earlier

Dude's got it going on. Behind the plate is pretty tough place to play and gets all the pressure. You have to be proud.

So, due to my foot injury, I started doing some background research of Porkopolis. This image gets sent my way, by My Beautiful Wife:
I immediately notice some dude holding a gator head. After close inspection I believe that wild man is none other than our own forum contributor @Jupiter Jim I think I am right ......
must have pulled that bad boy out of the Ohio River and cooked him right there.
Need more of the folks at the NCBB to make it to porkopolis this year. Take it over!
