@DoubleEgger - to a point I admire your staying power.  I was in the same camp (cancel the WS, Montreal Expos with the best record in baseball, Tony Gwynn batting 394, then the strike).  I did watch on TV but did not attend a MLB game til 2003 when a good friend had his 50th B'day party at a suite at Wrigley.  Made the road trip and the cherry was popped.  Been to 4 games live since.

Tommy Glavine was the players rep during the strike. He was on the local news everyday running his mouth about how they weren’t getting paid. This was coming from a guy making $10m a year to throw a baseball 100 times every four days for six months. That didn’t sit very well with a college kid a few miles up the road who was busting his ass, pulling all nighters, living and dying by the Bell Curve to be a part of the 33% graduation rate. His arrogance still irks me to this day.

@DoubleEgger Thanks for the background as I can see where that would have had quite an impact.  I was a long way from any major league media outlet so did not get any of that influence.   I hand most of the blame to Bud Selig the spineless owner's puppet but I will get off the soap-box now.

@northGAcock  The games during the season mean nothing. 162 games is ridiculous. It’s like watching paint dry. Cut the season in half, the games will mean more and you’d have a chance of a sellout. It’ll never happen because of the TV money.

Communist.  16 games (NFL, as a russian you may have missed that link) is ridiculous.  When your team misses playoffs by a few games, every one means something.

Also, more games means more opportunities for kids to go to a pro-game.  You hate opportunities for kids?  You, sir, are a monster.

  • Having a few friends over today. Every October we have a pumpkin/Oktoberfest beer sharing day. Mix in some college football and a Halloween movie or two (probably kid friendly) and it’s always a fun day. Got up early (for a Saturday) to get the egg going. Gonna run the pork butt around 275 today and pull around 200, FTC, shoot for a dinner around 6. Trying moink balls for the first time today as well as pretzels/beer cheese dip. And of course the beers. Pics to follow

Just mowed the lawn and weed whacked. But today was the one day a year that I also weed whack all the ferns on our drain field.  2 tanks of gas through the weed whacker. Wish I could mow it, but I would kill the mower with the hidden branches.
