Drooling over the 2 Prime tomahawk Ribeyes I picked up at Costco today. And drinking an Old Fashioned w/Buffalo Trace from my new favorite book on cocktails -  Liquid Intelligence by Dave Arnold. This is the best book on cocktails I've ever read. This guys has the Kenji/FoodLab approach to liquor and it's fascinating.  He's also the same dude that invented the SearzAll.
Yeah, you know he is taking the Kenji approach when he is using a micropippette to ensure consistent measures.

Dave also use to run the late and great website - http://www.cookingissues.com/index.html.

I always enjoyed that site and got a kick out of his science-y adventures with things like a rotary evaporator and centrifuges.

I haven't visited his website, but his Cooking Issues podcast is still going strong.  I've got over a $150 of various shakers, strainers 'n such sitting in my Cocktail Kingdom shopping cart because of this book... just waiting until I get tipsy enough to pull the trigger without regret.

Are you sure it was "asleep" and not "passed out?"  ;)

I’m hoping he didn’t knock over his open bottle of Woodford DO when he came to.

C'mon man, you never leave the bottle open, that can lead to evaporation.

I didn’t mean to imply it would have been intentionally left open. Lol!

Just put the cargo box on the wife’s SUV. All three women folk in the house running around frantic and will be for about the next 24 hours. Youngest daughter starts college tomorrow. She’s not going too far, but far enough which is great for her. In 4 years time, if all goes to plan, we’ll have a Special Education teacher in the family.

I’m thinking whiskey sours may be helpful today.

  • Watching college gameday with my 1 year old and puppo while SWMBO is at the gym. Having some people over today to kick off college football. Egging some spare ribs, along with sides and appetizers and several adult beverages. Pics to come

Sitting here wishing I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard the word maverick over the past week.
"He's on your six Maverick!"  Great movie, the sequel's gonna suck.  "Son your ego is writing checks your body can't cash."

Looking at the front yard after having 50 year old cast iron sewer pipe replaced with 4" schedule 40 PVC from the house to the city main sewer line. Over 60'.Original clean out at top of picture.
What my driveways look like right now. That is my 3/4" copper water line next to those green poles.
The other side of the double driveway:
Connection to the main sewer line.
Inspection passed for the line but the city Public Works has to OK this connection before it can be closed up. This started August 30 and it isn't looking too good for the lawn as this is a Labor Day weekend.

Frying bacon outside, before the world wakes up, is one of my favorite things to do on this spinning planet.

Btw, anyone who hasn't tried Anthony Bordain's eggs yet, you're missing out.

@DoubleEgger - I may need two wallets by the time this is done. Waiting for them to run the camera under the house to see if that CI needs to be replaced.

She’s been exposed to it thru my wife who works in the public schools with kids on the autism spectrum. My daughter has had a few jobs working with special needs kids and she truly loves it. She seems to get it, if you will, and I think that’s great.

I’m starting some dog food in the pressure cooker, we had it out to make some stew for the neighbors.

She fell down the stairs and broke her scalpula, so we did a quick pressure cooker stew, with chicken thighs, chorizo, and chickpeas, plus a baguette, bagged Caesar salad, wine, and a brown sugar cake.
