Yes but did they throw in the chromed dipstick..
how to check your oil in a landrover with a jaguar engine

    pop hood
get inside vehicle and shut door
do not press the break while pressing the start button
    hit mode
scroll down to maintenance on the speedometer screen
    right click to service
    down click to oil level
    click on oil level
a screen comes up that says oil level unavailable
    click cancel twice
    oil level is now shown

    first question
where do you put the chrome dipstick
    second question
why pop the hood in step 1 ;)
Well, it's a Range Rover.  Consider yourself lucky if something works.  No Dipstick.  Your oil level is low when the check oil or oil pressure idiot light activates (if you are lucky enough that works).  Think of all the paper towels you will save!

Lining up X and Y, some finishing pounds on a few firebricks.

Decided not to pour a footing, went 18".  We'll see.

All that's left is the stone surround on sides and opposite end of the steel rod.  I'll probably have enough $$$ in this when said and done to buy a large egg...but it will be another "happy place" to play on the fuego playground.  And it will be transfer shovel friendly.

thats going to be nice, cant wait to see the first cook

The first car I owned was in high school in the early 70's - a Ford Capri.

I checked the oil level by periodically braking hard. If the yellow oil pressure light came on I knew it was time to add a quart.

I drive a 79 Buick part of the way thru school.  Had to put a quart in every time I started it for the last little bit. Had a hole in the oil pan.   :o

The concrete would just deteriorate under the intense heat. If this doesn’t hold up, which it’s likely it will, I would suggest some road rock or ag lime.

    Good times ahead!

Thanks for the advice my friend.
I dug deep, deeper than anticipated.  A couple of inches of paver gravel, a couple inches of sand, 1.25" paver thickness.  Hoping the firebrick shields underneath.
