They wanted to go to a restaurant...
A lot of people like to be treated to a dinner at a restaurant for a birthday, special day or celebration. I look at is as an excuse to do something new or over the top. Yesterday was my birthday and this is what was for dinner.
Reverse seared prime ribeye topped with a homemade béarnaise sauce, shrimp, fresh green beans and roasted potatoes.
I picked up a 35oz prime cowboy cut ribeye from my butcher,
dry brined it overnight with kosher salt, then rubbed it with EVOO and
seasoned. Final internal temp was 126.
The potatoes were diced, seasoned and drizzled with some
EVOO and butter. Then tossed into a foil pack.
The green beans were sautéed in evoo & butter with
shallots and garlic.
I’ve been looking forward to cook using all 4 Eggs. The
Large roasted and seared the steak. The Medium roasted the potatoes. The XL sautéed
the green beans. The Mini Max cooked the béarnaise sauce and grilled the
shrimp.
My egging was getting hammered with sleep and snow during this entire cook and was a ton of work, but a lot of fun!

Great work, man! Doing something that many would take as a chore to make into an opportunity to practice one's own skill is prime, and worthy of the rib-eye.
Now, are people signing up to celebrate your next birthday with you?

Very nice. Funny story, my birthday was a few weeks ago and my wife always takes me to a really nice steakhouse. Anyway, we went to Del Frisco's in DC and there special was a 32 oz Waygu tomahawk ribeye... for $50 less than I could get at home to cook myself. Knowing this, I was able to convince her that the difference made up for the Pappy Van Winkle that I ordered.

I gotta say craig dinner looks great. Nice treat for sure! Now let me say this. If I can pull that off it would be my throwdown surf and turf dinner for sure. You on the other hand can display a dinner and plate like that knowing you can still kick it up another notch a few short dys from now. Bravo!LBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

Thank you. Yeah, we like Hollywood Studios as well. Thanks...I am humbled by your work of art surf and turf. Here in the North Georgia mountains, we tend to keep it simple. For me, surf and turf is a Big Mac and Filet-o-Fish sandwich.Big_Green_Craig said:

Happy BD! I have not been out to a steakhouse on my birthday since I bought my first egg 15 years ago. In fact I take great pleasure in cooking my favorite meal that night for the two of us! Only thing is for the appetizer Pat does fix escargot for me, but otherwise the birthday meal is all my doings. BTW for Pat's BD meal I also fix her favorite meal here at home!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
