Read the book last year, saw the movie today. Liked it allot. RIP Chris Kyle, American hero and SEAL badass.

All Kyle had to do was 1) not be a liar or 2) apologize for being a liar and there would be no case. The book was a huge revenue generator and partly at expense of Ventura. And big chunk of that, like $500K, is covered by the publisher and not from the Kyle estate. And Ventura probably won't ever get the full settlement anyway bc there will be appeals.

@Fan It sounds as if you were there when the incident took place?  Did you testify in court? 


If you were not there I don't believe you can say who was lying and who was not.  Just because a court decided in favor of Ventura doesn't mean Kyle was lying, just means the court believed what Ventura said.  Maybe Ventura is lying?

@jbjet45 well, unlike you I try not to sound like an idiot when I talk or type. So instead I read about the trial, including the many eyewitnesses who were there who all agreed Kyle was lying. But maybe you are right. Maybe the courts, with over hour of video from deposition from Chris Kyle himself, the witness of the night, and all the research that went into this case that everyone got it wrong and Kyle was indeed telling the truth. Maybe...

Also, amazing logic you have. So if I was not there for a certain event I have no way of knowing the event took place? That is the crutch of your argument? That only can be verifiably true if I was present? Regular Rhodes Scholar.

My wife and I seen it this last Friday and it was very well done. Even though I know about how he died it was still hard to handle that part. Thank you to the moon and back for all who have served our country.

its  a bit sad that the movies and televisions make it seem like only one person is a hero and deserves the attention of the world. I know they don't do it on purpose, but it becomes easy to forget the other heroes in the world and the sacrifices they have made. I am grateful for those individuals and the struggles some still have everyday.

Saw it this weekend. I really liked it. Cooper was good but I just can't ket Hangover out of my mind....wish they had chosen a different actor. My favorite part was the end showing footage of all the people lining the streets to show respect for the Chris Kyle's death. I'm embarrassed to say I don't rememeber reading much about the events when they actually happened. Good flick and we need more people like CK in the world.

Just watched this with my lovely bride. Both of us Served The United States Navy PROUDLY. Entire theatre silent at the end & although we knew how this ended we were as well. RIP Chris Kyle and all the many friends we have lost. We salute you!

I actually just watched American Sniper last night.  

I very much enjoyed the flick, but knowing he lied about a bunch of stuff once he got home kind of tarnished the story.  Very unfortunate for his legacy.  

By all accounts he was a true hero on the battlefield, and he deserves full credit for his service.  I've seen his wife interviewed, and she is much more impressive that she was portrayed in the movie.
