Based on my numbers, I don't think "dislikes" count.  I know my points = like + agree-abuse.  so I know my disagrees aren't counted but as my spam & troll are at zero, I don't know if they count as negatives or not.

For some forum members, I think their mission is to erase as many points as possible from other EggHeads. This serves two purposes; the first one is having the feeling of pure joy knowing that they are pissing in somebody else's cheerios, and the second purpose is that they think by playing the game in this fashion it will help them catch up and pass the others.

I don't necessarily look at the points, but I do click on people's avatars and glance at the amount of discussions and comments to include how many people agree with him/her. It's a quick creditability check. Kinda like checking a FICO score.

I read a lot of comments that people are claiming to not care. I do not believe this nonsense. I think the majority of people get excited when somebody agrees or likes their postings. Likewise, I think people get bummed or pissed when somebody disagrees with them or flags them as trolls. Especially when the disagreement/troll flag is completely erroneously lit up. Some of you guys have great FICO(EggHead) scores. My EggHead score is 628. Whoohoo! I'm building creditability.
