Great looking setup @News2u. :-bd Do you plan on placing a tile/stone of some sort under the table nest? There have been a few post on burnt tables.Steven

Stemc33: Going to place something there, if for no other reason to add protection both directly under the egg and to shield against ash cleaning below the draft doors, and, God forbid, any embers that may fly out. Of course, during normal cooking, the draft screen should stay shut. Fortunately, that mid-shelf can come out if a repair is needed. The top black, leg inserts between it and the top unscrew and the slab of laminated teak is released by backing out 16 pocket screws from under its perimeter. The mid-brace and the 1x4 internal braces at both ends of the table also unscrew, 12 straight driven pocket screws per brace. Then the mid-shelf lifts right out. The very dense and heavy composite planking on the bottom shelf is free floating...and easily removes by hand. Did that to be able to lighten the load when moving. That is a beast to haul around. Much lighter without the top, mid-self and bottom planks. And, of course, the casters and sleighs unscrew. Decided against using pockets screws to anchor the top, even though I drilled for them. Instead, clamp-glued 3 braces to the top's bottom at both ends and the middle, after pre-drilling for 9, 2.5" lag screws...3 per brace. They ratchet out easy for quick removal.Beef...It's what's for dinner tonight.

I've got a suggestion vs a concrete piece under the nest and it creates enough of an air gap. This is what I did for height and an air gap (obviously SS won't catch fire from the latent heat ). See what you think.

Nice, mounts. Yeah, I'm really not too worried about air flow underneath.Beef...It's what's for dinner tonight.

Looks like you already have enough air under the egg. Is that a XL egg? What about sliding a flat piece of stainless under the egg that came out to front edge of shelf? Would protect finish and not raise egg up anymore. Here's a couple I made recenlty but not flat

I can dig it. That, or some similar configuration, would be perfect.Beef...It's what's for dinner tonight.

She worked great on her maiden voyage and in test maneuvers throughout the holidays. Got her back in dry dock while I lay down the permanent finish. Will post pictures when completed. It's the final finish that separates the men from the boys.Beef...It's what's for dinner tonight.

Matt, sorry for the late reply. Insofar as drawers go, I can retrofit the table with side panels to close it up and add drawers later. The thought has crossed mind.Beef...It's what's for dinner tonight.
